I have just seen where this show is coming on, on 4/25/08 at 8:00p.m. central time on the discovery channel. Just thought you guys would like to know if you didnt. It looks pretty good.

Sweet! Thanks, I tuned in last night for the fourth time to view the Kalahari episode. May have to post-pone my plans for tomorrow night.

Question for everyone: Do any of you actually try to incorporate some of the techniques he uses for your own trips?

Although I enjoy Survivorman and have a lot of respect for Les, his Alaska Survivorman was not that good. Hopefully this will be better.

You guys are welcome. Its coming on in about an hour and a half so be ready. Oh and the Survivorman Alaska is coming on after that. I dont know if its like his show or not. We will see. Right now im watching the Knives live......

Anyone catch the Mythbuster special in Alaska? Best segments of the show I thought was the moose VS car...

I saw the mythbusters last night. the cabin feaver part, when adam makes that doohicky thing with a coat hanger was so awsome!

i saw this last night - the Survivorman was a re-run - but the surviving Alaska was neat.

I agree. I appreciate the fact that he increased his credibility by offering more of a teaching and educational episode about the effects of survival in Alaska.

I also really enjoyed the scientific study he provided early in the broadcast about accidentally falling into icy water. The "1-10-1" rule is something new to me. 1 minute to maintain/calm breathing, 10 minutes to figure how to get out, and 1 hour before your body starts to shut down and debilitate due to hypothermia. The thermal images in the tent afterwards were really informative also. Even in the next segment I started craving whitefish and oil when he was building the snow cave with the Eskimo guide.

Good show, and as far as I know, a new one also. I liked the part where he and the Eskimo simulated getting stranded in the dead of winter, all of it had some really good info though, Les Good Job!!!!!

Than Les is a great guy. Also I just watch an episode of Future Weapons on Alaska suvival. It was gooooooood.

I love the fact that he does a really good job of informing while surviving and uses very simple equipment. His Buck 119 for instance. Everyone on this board shudders at 420 HD - but he likes it - it seems.

No. Not everyone. Some of us laugh at people who think they need a $500 knife "to survive".

It's actually one of my very favorite knives. I bought mine with my dad when I was 16. We were traveling through California and Nevada by car for 2 weeks. Still have a stone from the valley of fire in my car and I still love to carry my 119 in the woods.

Yeah i like my 119 too. Its lite and comfortable to carry. That or my TAK is usually the ones i go to the woods with.
