My wife just bought me a Survivor Man DVD collection set from SAMs for 12.99. It has about 16 shows on it. I think that was sweet of her. Great deal for me.....

I received season one on DVD for xmas, and it was much better than I expected it to be. The footage of Temagami, Baffin Island, and the Labrador wilderness (from season two, it was on TV at xmas) brought back very vivid and pleasant memories of the many years I spent living/working in these remote places.

I also have to show my support as Les is practically a neigbour, living only 20 minutes away from my home town in Ontario!

I watch those shows over and over, can't recall any episode where he wouldn't have been better off with a 12" machete and a billy can. Still doing without is what makes it informative.

I like the show, anytime it is on whether I seen it or not can not help but watch....at least some of it..

We just got Les down here on cable. I've been enjoying the show. Mac

Les for prime minister!
Of course he's not Ron Hood, but he is still great.

I would say if LEss for Prime Minister, then Burnt Grills should be the queen.

I always wondered why we don't have Prime ministers, since we already have odd presidents.

Seriously though, All the athletic women (shallow) I know prefer watching Bear Girls doing is unbelievably stupid stunts in front of his camera crew in the middle of a abogirinally populated jungle.

Great thing about Les is that he is actually a pretty humble guy. He allows himself to be trained in the environment he is in by local experts before the start of his adventures. This combined with his own Boreal forest experience makes for some good TV. Not perfect but good. As far as comparisons IMO I rate Les above Hood and below Mears as a TV personality. The Bear Gillis guy I rate as below Yogi the bear and just above Barney Rubble as a survivalist.

Hey, hey, hey now watch it...................

Barney Rubble lived around meat eating dinasours and shaved using a bee in a clam shell. Let see Baer Grills do that.

:D

Learned a few tricks from Les...and a few things he needs to learn.

Overall I respect him because he took his family out of the big city and moved to the boonies. They took an old farm with run down buildings and made it into a livable location off the grid. His children held up pretty good considering the conditions they started with. His wife is a real trooper.

He not only talks the talk, but he also walks the walk. Keep up the good work Les...looking forward to season 2.

I agree, Skam. He needs someone to tote the cameras so we don't have to hear him bitch.

Les is the man. During the sea survival episode he demonstrated that the satellite phone was not working and he is really all by himself , stranded in the middle of the ocean with a storm forthcoming at the horizon. Compare this to Edward G. sea raft episode where he was accompanied by a cameraman, plus a boat with the rest of the crew following.

On reflection..I believe you are correct and withdraw my comparison. How about above the Great Kazoo after he lost his powers?
