would someone please email me Les’s payPal addy? He redid the pivot loc-tite AFTER a member had a spa treatment about a year ago. His words were that he remembered the knife and obviously the loc-tite didn’t hold.
This may have been an anomally that plain started to effect the tightness, and no matter what a PROGRESSIVELY loosen pivot may be the reason the first go around didn’t hold. But Les got into this knife and tested it for several days to insure all was right and keeping.
Les no doubt did this for both me and his original ‘spa’ customer and I think it is remarkable that my entry in this situation as an owner of a re-sold knife of his, once in his hands again there would be ample cause for charging me some kind of fee. Read on.
Let me tell You this. I tried to remove the four bolster screws. The knife has a hidden pivot. I ended up striping some of them and one I just could not remove it. These screws are really soft compared with my torx driver set. The pivot from the female side was inaccessible and I was dead in the water.
(FYI too. Torx drivers come in two flavors. Tappered and non tappered. So depth plays a role)
Everyone’s individual circumstance is considered as makers decide how to help someone and his compensation for the service. Les reset the pivot, and replaced all the bolster screws, cleaned the bolsters of visible wear, and shipped the knife back for ZERO dollars. I have never dealt or corresponded with the man before I explained in email that I would need his help on this. He had said to me that the screws would be custom (length) at the time the knife was made.
Though I COULD have drilled and extracted the damaged screws, I then knew I could not replace them through a local establishment. I was eager to eat the fees, deserved by his hand. So......I want to send him $20.00, so he can have burgers and fries with his kid(s).
