Less frequently copied Spydercos?

Just spotted a counterfeit G-10 Stretch on the big auction site. Looks fake to me, anyway. I went ahead and sent Spyderco an email with a link. First fake G-10 Stretch I've seen. $120 brand new? What a deal. ;)

They are making a Manix 2 XL copy now...but it is branded "Brother 1601". No way to confuse with the original. But with 440c and pretty much a one to one copy, I had to try one for the $23 they cost...Waiting for it now.

This issue is an EXTREMELY troubling one. I live in Greece where there are only two reputable stores that stock genuine Spyderco Knives ( Which l am aware of ) . When l was relatively new to the Spyderco , l was nearly tricked into buying a " Spyderco Endura " with a "440c" blade.
More Recently , we had this Chinese Import fair , where l was horrified to see dozens of fake Spydercos for Sale : Delicas , Enduras, Militaries , Stretches ,Rescues , Workers, Polices. What's scary is that many of my friends are buying them , thinking that they are real.
Regarding your question : I have never seen any of the Hawkbill models ( e.g. Harpy :D My favourite) or reverse S models ( e.g The Civilian, my most eschewed knife :( ) get copied. I have never seen a fake Autonomy , either.
P.S : on a related subject it is incredibly easy to identify a FAKE serrated spyderco. The serration patterns are ridiculous.
And many fakes have the spyder logo printed on the blade instead of laser etched , so you can scratch them with your nail to see if they are fake or not.

Can't recall ever seeing a fake Harpy, but there have been reports of them on the Spyderco Forum. There are definitely fake Civilians out there. I'd say that, at any given moment, at least half the Civilians for sale on eBay are fakes. If you see a Civilian with no Boye dent in the lockbar, and VG-10 blade markings, it's a fake. If you see one on eBay from a seller in Hong Kong or China, its a fake.

I bought a clone Stretch 2 with brown G10 for $22

Counterfeiters are detrimental to Spyderco and you decided to support them. Sal is not going to be happy... :(

^^^
Can't blame him. Not only does it support an unscrupulous practice, but a practice that robs Sal of the benefits of all his investment R&D, marketing etc.... Those are all very significant investments...

ok i'm getting preachy. Stepping away from my soap box...

I will add some:

Civilian
Spin
Hungarian
Stretch

FWIW, I've yet to see a copy of the FRN/nested liner Stretch. The only one's I've seen have been "G-10" with full liners. I've seen those with midlocks, liner locks, and Axis locks, all in a variety of colors. All that I've seen also have GANZO written on the blade in large letters, so at least they're easy to spot.

Also the H1 black/green/BO line seems untouched. I only saw the standard yellow handled one being copied.

I collect them...I can't afford real ones...some of us aren't as fortunate but, I'm not someone that will try and sell them for an original...That is totally bullshit...I hope he would understand.

Btw...they are out with a very convincing fluted titanium native now...so watch for them.

You're right there then?

You necro'd another thread to up that Chinese import/export materials worksheet for Titanium.

Coincidence?

What's worth collecting if it's not the real deal. Collecting takes time, and a collection will be expanded by taking that time to save for the items you like and would love to pay the price for it. Starting a collection and expand it as soon as possible by collecting fakes, is not the way you should do it.
