These are the Gerber Command I, & Command II knives. They were introduced in 1979 as the Gerber Force I, & Force II knives, but Gerber soon found out the the "Force" name was not available and changed it to Command after the first few hundred knives were sold. There was no change to the knife, so the box label is the only evidence of the first knives being the different name. The Command II knives were sold from 1979 - 1985, and the Command I knives from 1979 - 1994.
What is rare, is the lack of serrations on the knives, and the yellow "9" on the guard area of the black bladed Command II. To date, only 2 Command I knives with no serrations are known. I would guess there are more. There are less than 10 non serrated Command II knives known. Again, possibly more.
The knife with the yellow "9" was a knife made for the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team in the early 1980's. Each member of the FBI's HRT got a black bladed Command II knife with their radio call sign on one side of the knife's guard area, and "HRT" on the other side. The same information was stamped on the back of the leather sheath that came with the knives. At lease 9 alternate knives were made with only a yellow number on the guard. My knife is one of those alternates knives.

I have some handmade knives from some custom makers, but as far as commercially available I’d say it’s the CRK Umfaan - ZigZag graphic. I picked it up in 1998 at Plaza Cutlery while in SoCal for work. It definitely was the most expensive knife I owned at the time. I think I paid around $250.00
