Alright... another last comment:

It's been done. A straight handled badger attack deflected a bullet at close to point blank--saved the guy's life. As I remember, the coating was a bit marred... no other damage.

Does anybody have the link to that thread and knife picture? If not, I have a copy of that pic, somewhere. I'll try to find it.

Mike's correct. It was a .40 and the knife looked a bit better than the kydex it was wrapped in.
