Let's discuss the Contego and Rift.... Aaaaaand help me choose

Search the exchange on here and other knife forums (did I just say that??) for a used Rift. I picked one up for $80, and you can barely tell it was used.

Is the Contego really TOO big??? Like how does it compare in hand to the 0566? Cuz thats about as big as ill go for edc..... But then again, I wouldnt be getting it for edc anyway

The -1401 is well worth the wait! I have both, and the Contego carries just fine. Put a Contego clip on the Rift, and it carries better than the Contego. I wouldn't say the Contego is too big, but if it isn't EDC, then it doesn't really matter, does it? In a couple pair of my shorts the size of the Contego is too big, but in most of my jeans, either one disappears.

Honestly, for $14 or so more, the M390 is preferable if you don't like coated blades. The clear Cerakote on the 810 will wear and chip. The satin M390 will not. I had a 810BK and sold it to fund the 810-1401. I won't go back to M4 if M390 is an option, mainly because I don't care for coated blades -- and KS can get really humid in the summer.

The pinky ridge on the Rift is a love/hate thing. Either you love it or hate it. It fits my hand perfectly falling between my pinky and ring finger, so I love it. Bigger or smaller hands will hate it.

The Rift is by far my favorite design; so much so that I picked up the 9555 Auto Rift when an acquaintance surprisingly gave me a choice of his autos as a gift. I also love my Contego. My Rift sees more pocket time as edc, and the Contego fights with my Presidio for weekend/outdoors/camping/hunting time along with some edc. The only thing the Rift needs to be perfect is M390. Then I will have found my perfect knife.
