Greetings fellow forumites-There is a beautiful sliver mounted ang khola still available from Ms.Yangdu's valentines day offerings. I would like to ask your help in purchasing this knife so we can have it sent to our fellow forumite and friend Karda. If 5 of you will agree to each send $25 along with myself, this should cover the cost of the knife plus shipping.I am in for $25-who will join me in this endeavor? Thank you for your generosity in advance.Joe.
P.S.-Please respond here and send your contribution directly to Ms.Yangdu and specify that it is for the Valentines day silver ang khola-Thank you!

Aww geez, joe......what a nice thing!
I'm not sure what to think or say about this......other than "wow" and "thank you".
It's totally not necessary, i've been fighting the HIKV for quite some time now. Mostly i win.
I suppose if you are able to make this happen, i would have no choice but to gratefully accept.....

I have always loved this forum for it's comraderie and friendship. The relationships i've gained here have been worth their weight in gold.
It is the reason i devote myself to doing everything i can to help HI and the forums in any way i can.

I just can't do it right now but it's a wonderful gesture. If Auntie can set it aside for a bit I'm in for 25 as soon as I can if we can't find others.

Cryin shame a man my age, worked everyday of his life can't scrounge up a measly 25 bucks. I'm semi ashamed. The world we live in I guess.

No need to be ashamed Bawanna. These days, in this economy, there are many whom are just surviving.
Back in the day, i'd have had ready cash to buy something like this without a 2nd thought. Nowadays i have to figure out what i can do without in order to have something i want that is non essential.

You sound married too huh? That's a beautiful knife and I want it for you. If that helps.

Well hell, Al, you do so much for us as it is. Count me in for $25 as well. I'll paypal yangdu tomorrow/monday.

Let me know if you still need another 25! Is there a link or somehow we can see this knife we will be gifting?! :)

I'll chip in for what should be the 6th contributor out of the 6 necessary. Once arrangements have been confirmed (e.g. knife has not sold to someone else) in this thread I will send Paypal.

Update - $25 paypal sent

Bric-I have asked Ms.Yangdu to reserve the knife for Karda via e-mail (yesterday)and she responded that she will hold it and ship to him when payment has been received.I also e-mailed her and asked that she post an update on the forum so all concerned will know where the situation stands.Joe.

Excellent. My wife gave me my monthly allowance this morning 18 bucks cash. I already had 11 saved from last month so if you need another player I'm in.

I love this plan.

There is a local gun show this weekend I'll attend tomorrow but I don't have enough to do myself any damage there so I should be good for it.

Arbiter, you rock.

Bawanna-Thank you for the kind word. I have asked Ms.Yangdu to post an update on the forum to let folks know where the situation stands-after a suitable interval, you may wish to inquire of her via e-mail if further contributions are needed. However,in the interest of not burdening her over the weekend,I would ask on her behalf that folks would refrain from swamping her with e-mails requesting information.Hopefully, she will post soon.I'm out until tomorrow-blessings to all.Joe.

I'll tell you folks....
I am deeply humbled and touched by this....
When i posted that i'd like that khukuri, i posted with the knowledge that, monetarily, it just isnt in the cards what with trying to save every penny for bean and keep the bills paid. Never in my wildest dreams would i have thought that you all would get together and do something like this and purchase this fine khukuri for me.....
I was a little surprised by this, but not really. You all are a great bunch of people here that i am proud to know and call friends here on the forum.
I hope you all know you are like family to auntie and pala...and to myself. You are the heart and soul of HI. As long as we can turn out quality khukuri and you all keep collecting and using them the wheel turns, We get high quality knives of many flavors on this side of the ocean and the kami's and their families get and honest days wage, for and honest days work. A fair trade in my opinion. It's why i do my best to keep an eye here on the forum to get questions answered and help Auntie to keep things going however i can. Thank you all for this fine gift! It will be a treasured momento of my time here on the forums. These are probably my favorite khukuri besides the kothimoda. I would recommend these khukuri to anyone that wants an nicely carved actual silver furnished khukuri and scabbard that you likely could actually use provided you cared for and kept the handle properly hydrated. I have a SMAK made by Bura that was the 2nd khukuri i purchased from Auntie. It feels like it was made for my hand. I loves me silver and i loves me ang kholas, but khukuri gifted from the heart are a precious metal all their own. I can't wait to see this beauty.
