Lets Drink II - The Waki Adventure!

I have had paper wasps fly into me and fall to the ground confused as to what exactly had happened. When in doubt on the type though, run.

As a land surveyor I got stung at least once every summer. Yellowjackets mostly and some Paper wasps, the black & red ones, in bushes. It got worse when I hadn't been stung and it was August and September, knowing that it was coming any day!! I remember trying to knock a big nest down that was in my way by throwing a 2"X12" stick at the nest from 20 feet away. Perfect hit followed by two wasps tracing the arc of the thrown stick and beaning me between the eyes! Be careful around those suckers!

Funny story, funny because no one ended up in the hospital.

I "found" an underground yellow jackets nest in the yard while mowing a couple of years ago. One got me like 3 times in the ankle, through my cotton socks.

Before the day was over, I ended up in the ER. At first they said it'd be a while, when I told them I was having a little trouble breathing, they took me right on back and gave me the benadryl IV.

I've got an epi pen now. Did I mention how much I hate needles? I've told my wife, if push came to shove, she'd have to do it, because I'm not sure I could stick that sucker in my thigh. I've been stung since and haven't had the same reaction, but I ain't taking any chances. It took me 6 months to pay off that ER visit.
