...and how do we do this?

Merely post some links to excellent feedback for Jerry and his Crew in this Thread.

I volunteer to gather them together and submit them to Spark in his Hall of Fame sticky.

Yangdu Martino has already been submitted and, as is only right, will be the first confirmed. It would be good to see Jerry's name up there, too.

Awaiting your replies... ;):D

Hell its just a fact. They put up with all us crazy Hogs:thumbup::thumbup:

I'm onboard.
Between Noss's blade destruction videos and getting Jerry into the Hall of Fame Busse will be even more in demand. Oh well it adds to the thrill of the chase when getting a new knife from Busse.

Jerry has done many things he deserves credit for, but does not seek it for himself. His crew is top notch as well, they have a level of patience I could only dream of.

I once approached him regarding the possiblity of donating a couple of blades for a local family who had quadruplets, all born prematurely and all with heart problems. He sent me a very nice set of knives for their benefit auction and helped raise several hundred dollars for the kids. It would have been several hundred more, but my wife had me on a short leash and I knew that the two guys bidding on the knives were National Guard, likely to be deployed. One guy gave his knife to his brother-in-law who had recently graduated from Annapolis and was on his way to BUD/S. He and the knife are currently in harms way somewhere in the world. When he gets home for an extended period of time, I want him to bring the knife and drop leg sheath I made for it over so I can post some pics of them. I am sure he is beating it like it deserves. So you see Jerry, in his kindness and generosity, not only help raise money for little ones who needed all the help they could get, he indirectly put serious tools in the hands of servicemen.

The above is what you had in mind, is it not OP?

Oh, yes!! I'll be grabbing that!

Anything in GB&U we can use, too?

I'm in.....Just waiting for orders :D

Go forth and search -- search throughout the forums for links that display the excellence of the Busse Crew!

I collect them up and present them to Spark with a ribbon on top.

Stories are also good! And they don't even have to involve JWB or cigars. :)

Ok....This sounds like a great idea. Well besides making the best fixed blade knife in the world, the customer service is just as great. For example...

Back when the 1911 grips were being sold I wanted a pair in Snakeskin...called Amy-O and she informed me that they were all spoken for and all they had left were a pair of black canvas, so I took the black canvas grips. Well, about 2 weeks later before Busse was going to start shipping, Amy-O emails me to let me know that she has a pair in Snakeskin and if I still wanted them. So not only did she remember that I wanted them but she went to the trouble of emailing me and setting them aside for me. Now that is way too freaking cool!!!:cool:

Keep 'em coming, folks! Especially you Elder Hogs!!

Jerry's very good at keeping his good deeds hidden -- we're going to need YOUR help to ferret 'em out.

I have the Silent Knight Prototype, which is a thicker version of the 1/4" thick Silent Knight. The fellow that I got it from was a disabled Vietnam War era vet. He got it directly from Jerry at a gun show in 1993 or 1994. The way he tells it, he came upon Jerry's table and was immediately struck by the Silent Knight Prototype. He just had to have it. The only problem was, Jerry told him initially that it was NOT for sale, that he could order a production piece after leaving a deposit. Long story short, Jerry finally gave up this one-of-a-kind piece of history for a fellow who wanted it severely.

When I acquired the knife last year, I sent it back to Busse Combat to be resharpened. This type of thing happens everyday at Busse. Still, I gave Amy and Jerry a heads up to let them know that this special piece was coming back in for a little tune-up. Rather than let someone else take the lead, he wanted to handle the project himself. That's right--Jerry stepped up and did all the work on my knife himself. As busy as he was during the holiday season last year--heck, as busy as he is probably all the time--he still found time to give this knife some very personal special attention and care. How cool is that?!?!?!

That -- is VERY cool.

And you know we only hear a tiny fraction of what he's done, the people he's helped. It's very personal for him.

The following constitute all I could find using the search terms "Busse Combat": and "Jerry Busse" within the G,B & U.

The two that follow start out as complaints, but they serve to illustrate the conscientious attitude Jerry has toward his customers and his company. He takes criticism and uses it to improve his operation, rather than trying to run from it or deny it. In my eyes Jerry exemplifies a quality that is scarce in this day and age, personal accountability. No matter what, the buck stops with Jerry and he makes things right, no question.

I have to add this anecdote, when I first started buying Busse knives, I got mine from his authorized dealers and from the secondary market. It was a while before I started buying direct from the shop. I got involved in the Busse forums and read a lot. I heard the stories of how good a guy Jerry was and how unassuming he was. I remember my cynical side saying sure he is, whatever. I got a phone call out of the blue one day, it was Jerry, I don't recall exactly what we spoke about but I do remember the impression I was left with was that my cynical side was wrong for a change. But it wasn't until the Indy 1500 show in 2003 (I think, Hammy can correct me if he remember differently) when I got to meet him face to face, I really got the true picture of how down to earth the man really is. That image is reinforced when ever the Hogs get together at Blade. Here is a guy who still has a passion for his work and puts great personal interest in his customers. As far as I can see, he has not become jaded by the success of his endeavors.

That is an excellent story.

For anyone who hasn't seen Spark's guidelines for admission to the Hall of Fame it is quoted below. I scoured the G,B & U (not saying I got them all so keep looking) for things we could directly link to, but we are short of the 20+ Spark outlines.

We've got a Hall of Fame subforum that isn't being used. Let's change that.

Minimum criteria for Hall of Fame nomination will be as follows:

20+ sales or trades that've gone well.

Submission criteria: You post a response to this thread, linking the sale / trades you've done, and appropriate feedback threads.

IE:

(He had thread links as examples here but it seems they did not appear in this quote, Progunner)

I would highly suggest that in the future, these feedback threads have actual links to the for sale / trade threads in question. I don't want to see a network of scammers set up verifying each other without actually having bought / sold / traded items.

So in the future if you plan on nominating anyone to the Hall of Fame, try to link to the sale thread where you bought from the person and any G,B & U post you might have made. I think so many of us don't think to place a positive remark in the G,B & U when we get great service from Busse Combat as opposed to when we buy from one another.
