Let's Get the Busse Crew in the Hall of Fame

Here's a link to the recent thread involving Recondo4u and the knives Jerry offered up for his unit, plus the credits for the members here that were able to help out. Great stuff!

Why didn't I think of that one?

I thought of another one, not that Spark requires any reminder, but Jerry donated a couple of knives for Spark to auction off in order to help keep Blade Forums up and running.

Folks,

Remeber how we are always treated like family regardless of whom answers the phone at Busse. Regardless, of their day. We are special.

Go buy knives from others and you'll see why my list of Makers has dwindled to three.

Not to put anyone on the spot , but I asked a knife making legend which knives he buys and I thought his answer was pretty profound.

I dont buy knives anymore he said. I buy makers.

Well, if you've dealt with many other makers and especially if you've used their products then you should realize just how special it is to be part of the Busse Family.

Your not only gettin the INFI, but the icing that goes with it!

So get off your arss's and keep this thread at the top!:thumbup:

YEAH! That was good enough to be repeated!

Never thought about it, but I can't believe there not there already

Thanks for all you do around here OP, this is a great idea:thumbup:

I think the Recondo4 thread and a few others I have seen should do it.

For me, just the kindness you get when calling the shop means everything.

The following constitute all I could find using the search terms "Busse Combat": and "Jerry Busse" within the G,B & U.

The two that follow start out as complaints, but they serve to illustrate the conscientious attitude Jerry has toward his customers and his company. He takes criticism and uses it to improve his operation, rather than trying to run from it or deny it. In my eyes Jerry exemplifies a quality that is scarce in this day and age, personal accountability. No matter what, the buck stops with Jerry and he makes things right, no question.

I have to add this anecdote, when I first started buying Busse knives, I got mine from his authorized dealers and from the secondary market. It was a while before I started buying direct from the shop. I got involved in the Busse forums and read a lot. I heard the stories of how good a guy Jerry was and how unassuming he was. I remember my cynical side saying sure he is, whatever. I got a phone call out of the blue one day, it was Jerry, I don't recall exactly what we spoke about but I do remember the impression I was left with was that my cynical side was wrong for a change. But it wasn't until the Indy 1500 show in 2003 (I think, Hammy can correct me if he remember differently) when I got to meet him face to face, I really got the true picture of how down to earth the man really is. That image is reinforced when ever the Hogs get together at Blade. Here is a guy who still has a passion for his work and puts great personal interest in his customers. As far as I can see, he has not become jaded by the success of his endeavors.

...which shows that when ProGunner is your friend, you are a lucky fellow.

Thanks, PG! I've also found others. The Recondo4U Thread was my first! I will continue consolidation this morning.

I'm also hoping for MORE fabulous stories by the Elder Hogs.

So in the future if you plan on nominating anyone to the Hall of Fame, try to link to the sale thread where you bought from the person and any G,B & U post you might have made. I think so many of us don't think to place a positive remark in the G,B & U when we get great service from Busse Combat as opposed to when we buy from one another.

Just updated my Good Guys list. There are probably some folks I've forgotten, but I was sure to include Jerry and Co. on the list.

PG is right. I've tended to list individuals, but not makers or vendors.

Having already gathered more than enough evidence, I've posted some useful data in Spark's Hall of Fame sticky in GB&U.

I've also asked Spark to contact me if he'd like more hard evidence.

It won't be hard to get.

Meanwhile, everyone can still use this Thread to reminisce about Mr. Busse, his Crew, and why we like those wonderful knives.

Carry on...

OP, I just thought about it and Jerry and crew have been listed in my good guys list in the GB&U for a long time. Link to it too if you haven't already got it.

See if you can dig up the thread where Jerry presents me with an SFNO SE to serve me in my hazardous occupation. Oh, wait! That hasn't happened yet. :p:p

Bump it back up there! Heeeeyaaa!

Done! Frankly, we could add to this 'ad infinitum.' Hopefully, that won't be necessary.

Ham Solo: Sorry about that whole SFNO thing! Bravado says we've got to wait patiently and that 'our time will come again.' :o
