Chuck,CJ, I'll donate $10.00 to Buck if you will make a presentation knife to our president! I want him to always be thinking about the common man and Great US company's like Buck...Maybe a cool letter opener?? He gets a lot of mail I'm sure..And he's our Commander in Chief...I just think the most powerful man in the world SHOULD have a good knife, well, like a Buck...In fact I'll up that to $20.00.. [Maybe from the BCCI?]

You know, politics aside, I think this is a great idea and I would be willing to chip in as well.

I like the idea, but someone may want to do some research first. The Clinton Administration had a strict policy against accepting gifts from the public. (Remember the Indian headdress he refused?) I'm not sure if this policy continued into the Bush era or beyond, but it would best to check.
Always something to interfere with a good idea, right?

The idea of a commemorative President's edition is a whole other thing.

Not a bad idea.

President Johnson liked Victorinox classics so much he gave them out as gifts, and President Eisenhour did the same with the Case senetor pen knife that Case now calls the Eisenhour.

Maybe the present Comander in Chief can play up his policy of creating American jobs by giving Buck a boost. If he gets one and is impressed by one, maybe he'll start giving them out like LBJ did with Vic classics.

But... how do ya figure out what model to give him?

Maybe a metro, for the next time he has some beers served in the rose garden, he'll have a bottle opener.:D

That Guy has so much money he can buy his own knives......or the whole company if he wants........and hes probably reading so I cant really write what I want....

Right idea, but wrong President. Obama seems to have little appreciation for knives, American businesses, or Americans. It would be better to keep a low profile, then to risk getting singled out for the attention of his environmental/pro-union/anti-weapon goons.

No.

I'd say more but then I'd get a red chicklet.

Exactly!! Well Said by both of these Gentlemen.
Good Idea, Wrong President, and Wrong Administration.

American politics have become so polarized that doing this will cost Buck x% of their customer base.

It's a good idea but the wrong time.

This idea is exactly wrong.

I think we need, not more, but far fewer gifts from corporations to politicians.

Making an end to all gifts and campaign contributions by rich people trying to curry favor with politicians is the way to go.

Let all the wealthy corporations give the money to the poor instead of the rich.......let's see how enthusiastic they are about that.

Admirable idea, wrong administration. I respectfully submit that most of Buck's customer base wouldn't applaud it, since many of them are firearms enthusiasts (myself included) as well knife buyers and the administration's policy toward firearms is fairly clear. I wouldn't want Buck to suffer any sort of political backlash such as was seen with Cooper Rifles.

This is very true and something I didn't think about before hand. Point well taken sir. The simple fact is that politics are so polarizing that Buck may lose 50% (or more) of its customer base.

And his socialist, Marxist agenda !!

Goose just got an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator). 5 years ago I got one. The Hospital billed my medical insurer $84,000 for the device alone--not the surgery, not the hospital stay, not the operating room charges not the paper napkins that came with my meals, not the bandaids just the device. If you didn't have insurance the $84,000 cost would be taken out of your house or retirement or bankruptcy. My insurer said $24,000 take it or leave it. The hospital took it.

You may disagree with the product or the process to accomplish it, but isn't it a start to try to control such costs? With 535 politicians with their own axes to grind, give some sympathy for our President for trying to do what no other President has accomplished in the past century.

I'd give him a Buck knife, if for no other reason, to slit the throats of Big Pharma or the Insurance companies who hold such sway over members of Congress. If he could do it alone, we would see a much better product.

Looks like I am in the minority here but that is the joy of free speech.

Happy New Year

Sorry Tele,

You want to talk about this political stuff take to the right section of the forum. I could comment on your statement but, I'll keep my political thoughts on this subject to myself.

Back to the OP the current Pres could care less about a knife. Nice thought though....."Happy New year" lets party, after all the folks in this country are back to work.
