I was the lucky recipient of a beautiful old Soddie in a giveaway and I'd like to give back myself. I'm offering up an old Schrade Scrimshaw SC503 locking Trapper. I bought 3 in the series about 30 or so years a go - Trapper, Barlow & Sharpfinger. I have a acquired some very nice Trappers lately so I'll put this one in your collection. *I edited this post because I want to open it up to all BF members as a Schrade is workin' man's knife and some of us may be lookin' for work and can't afford to pay for forums right now :^)

Maybe a word or 2 about your first Schrade if you can remember...
We'll run it 'til next Saturday. Winner selected by post# in randomizer.

Post #34 (Sword and Shield) was generated as the winner of the Schrade Scrimshaw!

Congrats and email sent.

Great gesture on your part. Thanks for the chance.

I had a Schrade Scrimshaw, I believe the pattern was a peanut or something small like that. It had a rabbit scribed on it. That was many years ago. There's a few knives of mine that got misplaced somehow, over the years, and this was one. I always wonder if one day I'll openup an old box and find them.

My father always carried schrade knives. I recieved my first schrade from him in 1999 when i took a part time job working with him. I had taken to not carrying a knife at the time and he said that it wasnt a good idea to show up to work without a knife in your pocket. It looked alot like this

My First Schrade was big lockback. I dunno the name, but it was the equivalent of the Buck 110. Cut the hell outta my thumb before I actually even finished buying it. :o

It's been in my toolbox for 25 years. I used it almost every day; beat the hell out of it, because I didn't like it as much as my 110. Never was able to kill that knife.

Nice giveaway, bigmo66, thanks for the chance. I've never owned a Schrade slippie, maybe I'll get lucky this time.

My only Schrade was the smaller of the two upswept skinners in the Old Timer line, which I bought at Wally World. Used it for years on all sorts of game, until it came up missing from my garage one day after some of my teenage daughter's friends were over. Hhhmmmmm . . . .

Old Timers are pretty much all that the men in my family carry/ carried. An Old Timer resides in my pocket every day and Schrades are all that I collect. I appreciate the chance and thank you for your generosity.

Thanks for the chance!!!

My first Schrade was an LB7. I bought it from a vendor at the National Coon Dog Field Trials in Kentoni, Ohio in 1982 while on leave from Marine Corps Boot Camp. I don't have it any more because I lost while out cutting firewoods in the woods later. BUT, I DO still have the replacement sent to me by Schrade under their one-year warranty against loss. And after nearly 30 years, its still a great user in wonderful condition.

Thanks for the chance. I have never owned a Schrade.

Count me in please.

Triq thats a sweet knife. Now I want one.

I got my first Schrade, an LB7, many moons ago after seeing a buddy of mine carrying one for a long time in a belt sheath. It was as much a pry bar as a knife to him. I have gotten a few of them off of ebay, and they clean up real nice with Mother's Mag Wheel polish.

My latest favorite Schrade is this one. It used to be a hawkbill before someone either broke or ground off its beak:

Great giveway -- my second knife was a Schrade just like yours, but without the scrimshaw. My first knife was a Vic Spartan my dad gave me when I was eight or nine. I lost it and my uncle gave me the Schrade when I was 12 or 13. It was a factory second and my most valuable possession for many years. I still have it, but don't carry it much for fear of losing it.

I'd feel luck to win yours. Thanks for the chance.

The 194OT has been a steady favorite for me for a lot of years. I'd love to have one of these to go with it. So, even though I just won another knife, I can't resist throwing my name in the hat. Of course, you might decide to throw it back out. This is going to be a great knife for some lucky guy or gal.

I really can't remember which model was my first one, I just know it was a stockman, smaller than the 8OT. Then I picked up an 194OT and the stockman knives stay in the desk drawer. Here is a picture of the 194OT.

I will throw my name in for this also. My first real knife was a Schrade 152OT. I was 16 years old. First day of rifle deer season. My brother had one, and my dad had the 15OT. I wanted a real deer knife too, so off to town I went. Felt so proud to wear it. I went out walking and found a blood trail in the woods. Followed it and found a snowshoe hare that a fox must have grabbed. It was still warm so I skinned it and took it back to camp. No one would eat it though, but it was still cool to have used the knife. Lost it in a house fire years later. Have several sharpfingers n ow, but none feel as good in the hand as that one did. Good luck to all.

I'm in, please, and thank you.

I'm not sure the model number, probably a 34 OT as I have an 8 OT in a box that hasn't been used, but I got my first Schrade because I needed a stouter knife for work. I was working a couple days a week after school at a carpet store and part of my job was to backroll remnants and tie them with twine. I wore out my first pocket knife, one of the blades started bending backwards when I used it, and I needed something better. Schrade fit the bill perfectly.

I am in, thanks for change. My first Schrade was and is 34 OT, for the fairness, I just got it this year. I cleaned it, oiled it, sharped it. Now I carry it regularly:

Im with Ed ;-)
My first Schrade was a 1940T...its a beaut!..I love it!!, its in unused condition...a smart knife!, I purchased it VERY recently....Im so glad I did.
Thank you for the chance for this fine knife, and thank you for your generosity.

My first Schrade was a 94OT I believe, a trapper I used for skinning TV cable in the 1970's. I did not pay any attention to patterns or tang stamps back then. I bought several, because I would lose them.

I like the trout knife Steve, but don't count me in for the give-a-way.

My first knife was a cheap gas station special. I told Dad I wanted a real knife . That Christmas I got an Old Timer .
