I would love to see some photos of how your displays look these days. Please show if you are willing!

I did away with my unstable cabinet and have finally moved on to something much more stable. A flat aluminum case like you see at the knife shows. My blades now lay flat and are completely stable in this case.

Here is mine currently. The empty space on the top right has been made for something I will have shortly.. Wait till you see whats gonna go there next month =) =)

Now some detail shots of the Fighter/bowie colomn, the folder column and the hunter column.

Here is the display of Modern Custom Knives that I have created
over the past 10 years….

It is displayed in the very highest quality, with full information on all knives
among the pages of my 10 books on the subject… :)

My latest 272 page volume, "The World of Art Knives II" (bottom right
in the picture) goes to print this week and will be introduced early next year.

The book will be available in the USA from Missy Beyer.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

oh...THAT Quesenberry! Nice score, Jon.
nice thing about the display you got there with the knives laying flat is that you can change out the background color whenever you like, and have basically infinite choices to do that.

Thanks for putting that photo together, David--such an impressive body of work. Nice to see the volumes consolidated in one photo for reference.

Great thread idea, Jon, and I can appreciate the refinement apparent in your collection. Looking forward to the entries.

only got one knife on display, and it belongs to my loving wife :)

And, it's a Quesenberry!

Lorien I forgot about that one and love the display! Speaking of backgrounds I actually need a new one and don't know where to get it.

Will, I really have done quite a bit of refining. I enjoy looking at a semi- matching row of blades. Your hunters would look wonderful lined up like that.

For those of you that post old photos quite often I'd encourage you to take some fresh ones to show off.

Really nice collection you have Jonathan. I like the idea off your display. My meager collection is in a cabinet and not that easy to see unless you open the door and even then you still have to get the knives out to view them, thats okay of course, gotta put em in your hand right? Thanks for this thread and showing your collection.
Cheers Keith

I like the frame idea Lorien. How is it secured? Recessed earth magnets?

thanks Patrice, the box is very nice indeed. A friend of mine who mainly makes art pieces from wood made it for me in exchange for helping keep his mountain bike running. The knife is held, as you surmised, by 2 earth magnets which are epoxied to a couple aluminum cylinders salvaged from an Onza cantilever brake, (I used the other brake to make a center scribe :) ). The aluminum cylinders are threaded and bolted to the back of the display. That way, I could cut down the aluminun barrels to the exact right size so the knife could be very close to the glass. The upshot is that the knife kinda looks like it's floating.

Jon, you should find yourself a fabric store where you can buy cloth by the yard. Furniture upholstery would be ideal since it's stiff enough to resist wrinkling. Put a little double sided tape on the back side and off you go! Leather might be nice, too.

Here are some but instead of displaying its like stock piling :)

All I know is that my kids are gonna have one hell of a yard sale :)

JP FTW!

Joe, if your collection was assembled in cases, you could stock an entire (high end) Knife & Gun show.

Beautiful pieces.

Jon, I keep coming back to those Hansons. What a row of the splendid and sublime.

Nice set ups. Here is my display case. Not that many knives any more, but still a nice combo of knives and scrimshaws.

Truly exhibition quality display you have there, Marcel!!

All the best,

The custom knives I currently own are not on display per se - they are all users. I doubt anybody would want a pic of some hunting/bushcraft knives wrapped in oily rags:D

BTW some fan-awesome-tastic knives in this thread!!!!!!!!

Well, at the current time my displays are somewhat dis-organized, so I will just show a few pieces that came "with their own display":D

Burt Foster Laminated fighter with custom antique oak box by Burt...including the nails and hardware!

Next is a Dave Lisch/Mike Rader collab Kitchen knife with beautiful box by Michael..
