Let's hear it for the CRK pocket CLIP

It's been said before many times, but I'm going to say it again. Absolute perfection! One of the great achievements that Chris accomplished while refining his folders (on top of everything else) was to design what is arguably the industry's greatest pocket clip!

In my experience (and it seems I share these experiences with a lot of folk) these following attributes confirm to me that the clip is worth talking about:

1 - The clip does not lose tension (a property of high quality titanium)
2 - The clip does not come loose and wiggle side to side (it is of course sitting in a perfectly machined pocket)
3 - The clip does not snag/jam when clipping the knife to jeans (all of the angles and corners are perfectly designed and rounded, and set perfectly for jeans. I can slide this knife into pocket and engage the clip in the dark, with the wrong hand, not even thinking about it, no problem)
4 - The knife does not ride up in pocket (due to that nifty second fold)
5 - The clip is reasonably comfortable in hand (yes there is controversy on it's placement, both on the 25 and Umnumzaan, but the clip itself is pretty darn comfortable as clips go)
6 - The clip looks good (I really like the character that develops on the clips over time, with some shiny parts, snail trails etc. I also like that it is mounted with only one screw)
7 - The clip does not break if you snag it and have to bend it back (I have bent a couple of mine back after hooking them on a door frame....no problem....you'd never know)
8 - You can buy an insert filler if you want to remove it (thanks Chris, that's awfully generous to have thought of that!)
9 - You can buy a new clip easily if you lose it (no special order request required)
10 - The clip has only one mounting location so you don't have ugly unfilled/extra holes (because CRK is nice enough to offer dedicated lefty knives)

So your buddy asks you: "Why would you pay $450 for a folding knife" and you answer: "because it has the worlds greatest pocket clip dude, don't you know anything?" ;)

This is a very well written pocket clip review! Totally agree with you on everything written.

Hm, but how well does it retain an edge, and is it properly hardened? Lol jokes aside, agreed on the clip. Easily the best clips imo.

I heard Chris is working with the supplier to add Niobium to the metallurgy of the clip. Should help with sharpening the clip :p

I totally agree and would add the CRK pocketclip does all that while being shorter then the clips on my other edcs making it even better.

I agree with you Cody, it is arguably the best clip on the market. It is funny that I feel that way because I am one of the people that always get the clip inserts. The only knife I actually use the pocket clip with is my ultra special buck 110. The 110 is too big n beefy to just plop in the pocket.

What I like is the simplicity of it. One screw and the ride height is perfect in the pocket. Funny thing is I have overlooked a few knives because the clip was hideous looking or it had screw holes all over the scales.

I to have either sold or not bought a knife because of the pocket clip. Seems small but it is a major factor for me when purchasing. I dont want my knife sticking out 3 inches, sliding out of my pocket....

Cody, how do you come up with this stuff! You make feel bad about going clipless, because everything you said is correct. I do love your threads.

I love how the "second fold" on the clip fits perfectly over the seam of a pair of jeans!
It's like it's was designed for jeans:D

Best clip on any folder. One thing not mentioned it sits the knife perfect in the corner of the pocket out of the way so you still can get in your pocket. I stray away and play with other knives but I always seem to come back to crk. The clip is just another example of paying attention to small exacting details that makes all there knives awsome. You can spend a lot more on a knife and I have, but I don't think there is anyone who makes a knife as solid, functional and well thought out at any price. I really mean that.

I agree on all counts, they did indeed get the clip spot on. There is nothing I would change. :)

The option of a deep carry clip in the same style might be a nice idea for the future though, we see people fairly regularly asking about those.

Clip is truly great. For me it holds the Sebenza in my pocket at just the right height to grab it by the lanyard. Seems to be more love for the pocket clip in this thread than the lanyard in Cody's poll of a few months ago. That poll/thread had about a 50/50 split between those that liked and those that don't like a lanyard.

It is quite good. I'm surprised I haven't seen more companies utilize the second fold more, or if at all.

Thats the thing with CRK I never feel like they get lazy. They go the extra little bit. I have a very nice folder from another company who charges more for there knife and there are so many little Nagy things like cheap Teflon washers or rough Philips head screws etc thats the stuff that gets to me after awhile and ultimately turns me off to there brand. It just seems to me that good enough is not with CRK and that's why I keep coming back.

totally agree, love the clip but one more thing : CRK will bead blast them for free when they get scraped up! I send 5 or 6 in at once and when they returned and I put them back on, it was like I got new knives.
