Let's hear it for the CRK pocket CLIP

I too think it's the best clip of them all. Good ride height, excellent retention, elegant, simple design, not gaudy and huge, and it blends in well with jeans and Carhartts which are what I wear primarily. I actually appreciate this thread praising the clip as I've been attacked in other places here for sharing my opinion that I think it's the best.

My only complaint with the clip is the flare out at the bottom. It catches on stuff. I've bent it out a couple times. Maybe less of an angle. I'm not much of a sissy to modify it.

I agree with this, I generally really like the clip but but I have had it leave my pocket before when it latched on to a work tool bag. It just transferred from my pocket to my bag in one slick move and I didn't even realize it happened.

Theres a trade-off taking place there there with the height of the flare. If the clip fare was any lower profile, it would catch on the lip of your pants, if they are jeans at least. I think everything (heights / tension / second fold) was set up to work perfectly for a pair of Levi's which kinda fits with the idea of the Sebenza being a "workings man's folder" or whatever. I wear jeans mostly, so the clip seems perfect, though is certainly can catch on things as you guys have pointed out. I like the fact I don't have to manipulate the clip to put my knife in pocket, it slides in easily every time, so for my use the design and height of the flare is perfect.

I had this happen with a 6-pack a while ago. Went to check out, and noticed a sebenza riding along the conveyor belt:D

Great review. I can't disagree--though I would carry my Sebenza a lot more often with a deeper carry clip. Personal preference. And there doesn't seem to be a good after-market solution (I've tried the Spyderco Meerkat clip).

Nice thread, Cody. I never noticed the second fold until you pointed it out. And yes, it does fit perfectly over a jean seam. Good observation.

I DO wish there was a shorter or longer one for my 25s, however. It is in exactly the wrong place on a 25, which is surprising. But that subject has been beat to death so enough about that!

Maybe I should break out my unused clip inserts and try them on my 25s to see how that works out...think I'll do that and see how that fares. Never carried a modern folder without a clip, only a traditional. Might as well give it a shot.

I tried my 25 for a while with no clip, and the ergos are awesome, the knifes design suddenly makes absolute sense. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, the 25 was just too big a knife to have loose in my pocket. I found it ended up horizontal in the bottom of my jeans pocket and that was just not comfortable. I re-installed the clip as the lesser or two evils. I agree that the 25 should have a purpose-built clip, and I also agree that the subject has been discussed to death, so lets just say it is what it is. Would be a great knife for belt-holster folk.

Some differing viewpoints on the ol' CRK pocket clip. Thought I'd give
It a bump in light of the new after-market deep carry options. Whatever floats yer boat is good with me, but I still feel the standard CRK clip is pretty much perfect.

I tried one of the after market deep carry clips. It didn't have quite as good retention as the standard CRK clip. It also stuck out a good bit making the flat knife much wider. The curvature was too much in my opinion. Then there's the fact it made the classy knife look goofy. I had it on less than an hour before going back to the standard CRK and won't ever look back.

Also tried an aftermarket lanyard pin from the same maker. It rattled and since there was no hole in it to do the burnt end trick there was no quick fix. I removed it promptly and returned it for a refund.

I'm staying stock from now on. It's hard to beat perfection.

Who's making these aftermarket clips?

Edit: Nevermind...saw the other thread. Pretty fugly...

IMO to saythe CRK clip is "perfect" limits the company. They will eventually make better... in the meantime:

pros: it is the best looking clip for the knife available, its double wave/clip system is outstanding (it almost double grabs the pocket-ingenious!), strong and durable material.

cons: the bottom flap of the actual clip sticks out far enough it gets hooked on things and I have bent clips that were not able to bend back, the finish is subject to snail trails, the stock clip leaves approximately a half inch of the knife exposed.

The 1/2 inch exposure is my biggest complaint. It puts that much of the knife constantly exposed to the environment, CONSTANTLY!

If you are trapped in office/school/store all day this may be frowned upon... Just saying its reality. If you have a blue collar hard ass outdoor job, carrying with this clip exposes the knife's body to dirt, rain, grease, oil, grime, rocks, blood, poop, flying bananas, pine needles, theives... etc. Also, not sure about all other CRK's, but most are a tip up configuration and looking inside the scales, the tip of my blade is only recessed inside the scales maybe an 1/8th inch. That means my tip is exposed to all these things that the environment can throw at me. I don't like my tip exposed!!!

I think the clip that CRK has developed is well thought out and executed.

As mentioned by other posters, I've skipped knives just due to the lousy pocket clip. Too often it seems the clip is just an afterthought they slapped onto the knife without much thought to how well it will serve its purpose in actual use.
