Lets hear some stories about the most expensive knives you lost

My first $100 knife, (give or take), a simple BM Griptilian...

Was back on a rig building docks, putting pilings into roughly 15' of water with a strong tide current, and off she went, over the edge and into the drink.....

Spent a couple minutes fishing with a strung magnet, no luck... she swims with the fishes now...

I have lost more than one , unfortunately.
Hiking with the family, set up and made lunch and left a "In God We Trust" Sebenza sitting on the rocks as we left to finish the hike. I went back the following weekend in the hopes it would still be there but no such luck.
I also lost a ZT 560. Slipped out of my back pocket at work. One of my employees must have picked it up.... Never to be seen again.
Hoping I won't ever lose another.

Thank God I haven't lost a knife . But I have seen the face of very good friend that lost his kershaw Leek that was given to him by his father in law . He had the knife for a good 8 years . He's father in law past away about three years ago . Two month later I was able to trade for a new Leek and gave it to him . He was wow man Thanks . Felt good to give him the knife .

I to this day have only lost one knife. My grandfather had a us navy folding knife I am not sure what manufacturer it was. My dad had it and gave it to me (he says I never remember this happening) now the knife is missing and the last place I saw it was with the pocket watch and belt buckles my dad use to keep on his desk about 17-18 years ago

SnG FFG Gen 6 thanks to USPS. Else, it would be the Nuclear EDC if I am unable to find it.

Bought my dad an expensive buck knife for his 50th , forget the exact model but cost me close to $200 canadian. .. had it engraved , that winter he dropped it down the hole while ice fishing lol. They went and found a big magnet somewhere but couldn't get it.

Lost my Ritter Mini Grip with Cuscadi OD green micarta scales yesterday at a small restaurant. When I went to sit down at the booth, the bottom covering on the table was hanging down and that snagged my pocket flip enough to take it out. I glanced at the table to see what happened but I didn't realize my knife came out of my pocket. Realized it an hour and a half later but by then I was in another city taking my parents to the airport to fly back home after visiting me. It made it worse because my dad had given that knife to me a few Christmases ago. I tried googling their phone number and calling the place. However, the phone number for them listed everywhere went to an out of service phone. I asked a friend to go by there and look for it, but the restaurant was unexplainably closed before noon when their hours are until 3pm. I stopped by there on the way to work this morning and they said no employees or patrons had turned anything in. I couldn't find it at our booth. No doubt one of the employees probably found it and kept it. Very disappointing :(

I have certainly misplaced for a long time or lost a few SAKs, but that is not all that interesting from a story point of view. For the most part, everything I have was obtained by me. So, they are just things.... things I like.... but still things which are replaceable.

At the park, I told an arsehole with a belligerent pit bull to control his dog.
He said "Shut up or I'll set him on you".
I pull out my $200 Svord Gen Purpose Deluxe
Svord%20General%20Purpose%20Onfe%20-%206.25%20Inches%20-%20Mahogany%20Handle%20-%20Brass%20Rivets%20Model%20870BB%20copy.jpg

from horizontally, back of belt, & said "Do it!"
Arsehole rings cops, saying I'm threatening to kill him & his family (I was only gonna kill his dog).
I wait for the cops & they confiscate my knife. Court ensues. The judge orders the knife destroyed. I hope a cop saved it for himself. Later the pitbull is shot for attacking sheep.
Now I carry a series of $3 pigs ears & secateurs/hand pruners for cutting pigs ears into Jack Russell bite sizes & for stabbing dangerous dogs in the eyes.
