Something to entertain eachother with.. If you had to survive a week in the wilderness right now only with what is in your pockets and withing a 10 foot radius from you, how prepared are you?

As I'm just about to leave on a camp-out, I'm doing pretty good. I have 3 knives, including a ZT 0550, Gerber Combat folder in S30V and a Le Thiers par Chambriard slipjoint. Plus a full water bottle, titanium spork, ceramic + diamond sharpeners, flashlight, striking steel, umbrella, some candy, fully charged phone + extra battery, plenty of paper for kindling, small weather radio, and a complete change of clothing, including shoes and socks, and an umbrella.

Food wise, I'd be hurting a little, but I could stand to lose a bit of weight.:D

Dunno if General Knife Discussion is the place for this but I'll play. I think I would do marvelously. On the end table is my Boker Federal Flipper, so I have a knife. There's also a magnesium firestarter I picked up on sale yesterday. There's 3 fishing rods and a healthy tackle box on the rack right next to the gun safe so I can take my pick of pole and grab a .22 and I'm all set. Ooh, there's also a More Leuku and several hundred feet of para cord on the safe! It might suck a little until I find a gator to make some shoes out of but I think I'll do ok. :D

I would be living like a queen. Cargo shorts Friday ensures my pockets are full, and my "adventure" bag is always on the back of my chair. I win.

Currently my teen foot radius includes a mini van full of food, clothes, water, and other various things you bring in a road trip.

It's August. I have a knife, a firestarter, and a WATER BOTTLE. I'd be fine.

I'm sitting in my office at home so I have a S&W 9mm, 50 rds of 9mm, my Boker Fitz on my belt and a Spyderco Resilience clipped, I have a large 32 oz water bottle, a paracord bracelet on my wrist, sun block, bug repellent, a few good hats, 3 bic lighters and a zippo, two high powered Balder led flashlights, an old hand held GPS, a compass but no topo maps, sun glasses, 1 100' roll of leather lace, 1/2 a box of granola bars, a brand new empty back pack, a camo G Shock Mudman on my other wrist, cell phone, chewing gum and large jar of roasted peanuts. BRING IT, I'm ready.

At my feet are 2 hazard 4 bags-
One has an esee 4, izula, 5 ,6 Becker bk10, and all my sharpening gadgets....oops revised... my junglas was in here also... lol

I'm in my man cave aka finished basement which holds all of my knives and most of my outdoor gear including guns and ammo, rods and tackle, fire starters, flash lights etc. etc.

Within a ten foot radius I would be just fine except for proper clothing and boots. Barefooted with gym shorts and a t-shirt could pose a problem:eek:

Im in bed... soi have a blanket boxers and my phone.

Assortment of dog toys next yo my bed..

In bed, but my room's small so im in range haha. Izula 2 on the night stand. 3 fishing poles on the wall above my bed. (Spinning, baitcast, fly) Remington 887 by the bed. My closet is pretty close so I have clothes for days! All my ENO stuff hanging on the back of the door by my bed so shelter is covered! A random ferro rod is on the floor and a zippo lighter on the counter. Im pretty set.

I'm at the desk that's beside my bed. Under said bed is about a month's worth of Mountain House and MRE's and at the foot of my bed is the footlocker that contains almost 90% of my camping/hunting/trapping gear and a decent amount of ammo. Shotgun is within arms reach as is my bob/ghb/edc bag and my handgun is in the drawer on my right and a couple boxes of Cliff bars in the bottom drawer. So within 10' is every piece of gear I would need to stay for a very long time out in the woods give me an extra 3' and I could grab extra clothes and more first aid stuff.

not very, but so what? The issue is more like "what's in your vehicle"? Cause otherwise, how would I get into the wilderness? If I'm riding with someone else, I'd certainly still have quite a bit more kit than is in my pockets at the moment. Ive got my knife and Bic lighter, which would probably suffice, if it was not cold/rainy/windy. If the latter conditions prevail, and you don't have a vehicle or some other sort of shelter, you are in deep doo-doo in just a few minutes, if you don't at least have a poncho, a heavy duty space blanket and some very serious fire-starter gear.
