Thought it may be fun to do a Poll to see how Blade Forums members rank the major knife shows.
I purposely left out the Blade Show as I assumed it would get most of the votes. Thought it would be more interesting to see how the others fall into place. They are of course listed in alphabetical order.

Anyone here that hasn't had the chance to attend a show, just vote based on the reviews and show photos you have seen on this forum.

The poll limits me to ten choices so please understand if I left out one of your favorites. :)

Well Kevin, Blade would be my first choice by large margin. Of the shows listed that I've attended, Chicago gets my vote.

Next to the Blade, I've only attended two of the shows. For the amount of fun had,
I've got to vote for the Guild. The Gala is great and friends make it a lot of fun.

Arkansas Knife Show!:thumbup::D:thumbup:

Chuck, I would have bet the farm you were for Arkansas. ;):D

For my money, the best collection of the types of knives I collect(and, you as well, Kevin) has got to be at the Arkansas show.

I have never been able to attend the Arkansas show, but agree that it's right up our alley.
I'm really going to try to make it next year.

The Blade show is just so big and awsome with everything that goes on.

What do I need to do to be able to vote in this poll.

Solvang is both the best selling show and the most enjoyable for me.

Solvang is some beautiful country.

Does anyone know what membership level you have to have to be able to vote in the polls?

I couldn't vote on any of the polls until I upgraded to Gold.

1.. It's close

2. There is no other show on the planet like it.

Guys I have to ask the question???

How the hell did the BLADE SHOW get left off????

Blade Show West???

That is a total joke....it was a tire kicking show last year, although I think the Busse and Strider guys did well.

As I said in my opening post, I left the Blade Show off intentionally as I felt it would probably get 95+% of the vote so we would not determine how the others ranked and the result would be a boring and lackluster poll.
So actually "right or wrong" I assumed that the Blade Show is #1 and we are polling to determine how the other shows rank #2-#11.

Results are surprising to me so far, ;) but then many are not able to vote because of their membership level.

Ya have to be a paid member to vote, Knife Maker, Gold, etc.

Never attended but I've heard good stuff about the Solvang show.

I've not been to them all but I can't imagine any being more enjoyable than Solvang. I'd love to attend the AKI but I'll be on vacation.

I, also, enjoy the Plaza Show, though it's every two years.

I voted for Little Rock as well - a real friendly, low-key atmosphere and TONS of great forged blades by top makers. I really want to try to get back there next year.

Roger

Makes sense to leave off Blade - same way it makes sense to leave Tiger out of golf pools.

IMO, the results so far are a little surprising as I would have though Reno, ECCKS and Solvang would have gotten more votes and Blade West less.

Really surprised Chicago is in the lead, not that it's not a good show, just that I didn't realize it was so popular. The fact that it was just last week may have given it a little momentum over the others. Maybe not though.

People vote for the shows they've been too. This clearly shows that more of the voters here have been to BW than to Reno. Honestly, I've been to BW the last 2 years, and it's a very minor show in quantity and average quality (not to say that there are not a few very sweet pieces).

I wish I had more experience to use here, but my experience of those listed is Little Rock and Chicago. Both great shows, IMHO. Hard to choose one over the other, but I give Arkansas the edge due to the Saturday/Sunday format. That works better for me to attend than Friday/Saturday shows in most situations. More forged blades, too, which gives it an edge. I can see why they are both top vote-getters at this point.

I mentioned early on to Kevin that the poll would not be as accurate if we can only choose one. I don't know that the poll can be designed to choose more than one selection (I can do that when I set up a poll on Knife Network).

That said, having the ability to choose a few favorites might change things. There might just be a consistent 'second' choice that overall would show it's colors.

I voted Chicago, too.
