I mentioned early on to Kevin that the poll would not be as accurate if we can only choose one. I don't know that the poll can be designed to choose more than one selection (I can do that when I set up a poll on Knife Network).

That said, having the ability to choose a few favorites might change things. There might just be a consistent 'second' choice that overall would show it's colors.

I voted Chicago, too.

We have had some Great Informative Polls here on this forum over the last year. It seems that the associated threads have gotten many hits and post however surprising low participation in the actual voting. I believe this limited number of votes, effects the accuracy of our polls more then anything else.

I believe this is the result of many not being able to vote due to their member status level.
Unless I'm mistaken, you are only able to vote at the Gold or Maker level and above and not allowed with the basic membership (blue).

Perhaps this may be something you may want to consider as you renew your memberships, as it's only an additional $15 a year to upgrade to a Gold from Basic and $30 to upgrade to Maker per year.

IMO, this forum is one of the biggest bargains in the knife industry considering the enjoyment and especially the knowledge/education we find here.

I have not been to the Chicago Show yet, so cant give an accurate view of it, so I will have to vote for the Arkansas Show. It seems to suit the kind of knives I've been making and the price level which the attendees want. I may try the Chicago Show in 09, but Little Rock is like home to me. Lin

I have surprisingly (considering how crazy I an about forged blades) never been to the Arkansas show. Perhaps because I usually go to the Reno "all forged" show which is generally within a couple weeks of the Arkansas Show.

Seems like both would benefit in attendance and sales if separated a bit since they are of great interest to the same makers and collectors.

I liked the past Reno Shows in that they seem to be more like a small gathering or meeting of friends, collectors and makers than a show. And for some reason, it seems to be easier for even new collectors to get knives from the very popular makers than at some of the bigger shows.

But then, Arkansas may have these attributes.

I see the SOS show has no votes, which is a drag cuz it's the only one anywhere near my home. I planned on attending SOS next weekend. Now I'm wondering if it would be worth my time. Anyone here ever attend?

Don't let the SOS votes bother you as we are just a single flea on a old hounds back as compared to the total knife show going public. ;):D

If I were anywhere near I would be there.

Shows I have attended in the past have included in no particular order, PKA, MKA, SOS, Blade West, BAKCA, Western Washington, CKC, CKCC, Guild, Las Vegas, Bob Schraps show in Illinois, Wolverine and maybe others and all are enjoyable. If you love knives and the makers and other collectors, just attend shows and have fun and hopefully go home with some new acquisitions that you will enjoy.

I can tell you that the past two days has been great for me. We just arrived home this past Monday and I finally was able to get to displaying the knives from our collection

www.phymurphotos.fototime.com

it was most enjoyable setting things up again and viewing and handling the knives. Each time I handle a piece, it becomes more difficult to part with it although with the spots around to display and the cases space now becoming more limited as related to new acquistions, I fear that soon some items will just have to find their way to the auction block so to speak.

"...just vote based on the reviews and show photos you have seen on this forum...."

I don't quite understand the validity of this concession (It's like the "I hate Sebenzas but I've never handled one!" threads :) )

But, OK.......

BLADE is, of course, #1. For me, Chicago is #2. And...based on comments from folks whose opinions I trust....Solvang and Plaza would be tied for #3. Attended the Vegas show just once and it was a bit of a disappointment.

Anyone here that hasn't had the chance to attend a show, just vote based on the reviews and show photos you have seen on this forum.

It's not like the knife industry is waiting on the results of this poll to see what direction it will take. ;)

It was just meant as fun and I wanted our new collectors to feel as if they could participate even if they had not been to many if any shows.

In addition, some of the show reviews and photos on this forum are so good,
sometimes I wonder if one wouldn't get almost as much out of the shows by staying home and examining them. :) ;):D

Good points, Kevin. (but I bet you some of the show organizers will take a peek in here to see how successful we think they are in producing their product. :) )

As i have never been to any shows other than Blade and Guild, i had to vote for Guild, BUT i am voting based on the average score of the INCREDIBLE Guild show that i went to in the early 90's im Orlando and the shockingly disappointing (when compared to the fist one) one i went to in '05. i will let you know how i vote after this Satruday at SICAC.

Any surprises as to the results so far?

Wouldn't it be interesting to see how these shows actually rank in attendance and knife sales as compared to our rankings?

I was going to vote NY CKS but it wasnt on the list! So I went ECCKS same show basically:D

The AKI would be at the lowest attendance-wise, as there is a limit of 175 people invited to attend. The sell-through rate is unmatched by just about any other show, I have heard of 90%+.

I agree STeven as the AKI is almost in a class of it's own. In fact, I debated getting your opinion as to leaving it off the list entirely.

Similar, is the Fisk Micro Invitational as it's just different and can't really be compared to others.
