As far as knives go I carry a Case Barlow everyday, and I mean EVERYDAY. This knife does almost 100% of the work I need a knife to do, and does it well, although it does require constant touchup, which is not a problem. The second knife I carry is a large single bladed "tactical" style knife. This rotates between a BM 610 Rukus w/ivory micarta scales, a RJ Martin Devastator flipper, and a self pimped Strider AR. Will soon be adding a special order Crawford Raider in heavy duty mode! Why do I carry the large knife that does no work.......because I can for one, secondly, it is nice to be the only one on the block with a knife like I carry, and third, if it came down to it I know I have a piece that could work and work hard. Hey, I JUST LIKE KNIVES! :D

- cellphone
- black matte zippo
- permanent match
- BM 551
- BK 11
- comtech stinger
- parker vector
- Fenix L1P
- money clip with money (hopefully) and various cards
- keys
- vial of caffeine pills

The stuff I carry is pretty much self-explanatory such as a knife for cutting, etc.

My EDC is a little more robust than most:D :

MD PATAK - carries great under the ACU shirt...for heavy duty chores
Leatherman Charge + Tool bits = does it all
Small Ferro rod - fits in the Leatherman side-pouch pocket
Mini DMT Sharpener - fits in the back slot of the Leatherman pouch
ARC single AAA LED - fits in the other side-pouch pocket
Emerson CQC-8 - I like the blade profile, and it's quicker than my autos
Spyderco Military, fully serrated - just in case
Fenix P1D CE (replaced the Inova 5X) - excellent, compact LED
Recently added my SAK Rucksack back to the lineup - just like to have it
Suunto M9 Wrist Compass (not shown) - always a good backup
Hank of 550 cord - 100 uses
Flat role of 100mph tape (not shown) - 101 uses
Key chain has Sliver Grippers, fingernail clippers and Photon - the small stuff
Cravat - also used a "recon wrap" to keep the blowing dust from the face
Mini IFAK/PSK - bandages, aspirn, benadryl, tape, needles, safety pins, floss
Small pocket planner - keeps me on time and organized
Assorted pens/pencils -
ID Tags w/ Photon - mandatory
Windmill butane lighter - only smoke the pipe once in a while, works great
Regular Bic backup lighter (not shown) - my hand-out lighter
Casualty feeder cards and IR Flag in ziploc (not shown) - mandatory
Burts Bees chapstick - love it!
Oakley Halfjackets w/ extra clear lenses for night movement - best glasses I've ever used; Polarized for day and clear for any rotary/fixed-wing flights at night.

When on the FOB, I'll just carry my M9 in a Galco Jackass rig with the off side holding two extra mags and my Surefire Aviator.

I'll have to post an updated picture...

I have both a knife and a watch on my at all times. The watch stays on 24/7, and the only time the knife isn't sitting in my pocket or clipped IWB is when I'm either sleeping or showering. The watch is a titanium Seiko chronograph and the knife is a Spyderco BG-42 Military. I've come to depend on both over many months of daily use. I don't "collect" gear in the sense that I buy buy buy and only use the items sparingly - I don't have the income for that. I'll sell off items over time that don't suit my needs.

Out of the apartment, I'll have on me:

Wallet (DOPP Getaway - thin, functional, easy to carry)
Keys (on a CountyComm Ti link)
Cellphone (Nokia 6236i - bombproof and reliable)
Flashlight (Fenix L0P - bright enough for my needs, reliable, easy to carry)

in addition to the knife and watch. That's it. Fairly minimalistic. I don't like a lot of stuff cramming my pockets, only the essentials. I'm pretty sure I can handle any situation that arises with the gear I carry. You people that carry 20+ items are nuts. :p

Right now:

Samsung Cell Phone
Car/House Keys on a Lanyard
Wallet
Creative Zen mp3 player
Camillus Heat
Chapstick
Lighter
Cigarettes

I always have a knife and watch one me as well; it stays on 24/7. Yes, I do sleep with a knife clipped to my PJ's. The only time I don't is when I am showering.

wallet, keys, watch, cell phone, one hand opening folder (M2 Rittergrip, zdp Caly jr., Byrd Cara Cara, or Kershaw JYD) Leatherman Wave, and there's a photon III on the keys. My tools and a BOB in my truck.

I carry a multi tool (either Leatherman or Vic) because you don't know when you will need a pair of pliers and other tools. I also carry one of my many folders on my belt in a sheath just because I want to have a large folder to cut with. The wallet I carry is a Special Ops brand wallet (best wallet I've owned yet) to carry the few dollars I have - if I have any, that is. Motorola Razr because the wife wants to keep track of me. A whole bunch of keys because I need to get access to a few things in my life including my house and car.

onoin leek= small great little blade/cutter...
fenix l2d-ce = small excellent led light,,,
sprint phone ...

At work, Gerber compact sport multi tool and Fenix L1D flashlight. Office environment, so only light use and these are also easy to carry. Also Leatherman Micra on work key chain.

All other times, Spyderco UKPK - easy deployment and razor sharp edge. Leatherman Charge Ti, useful blades to backup the UKPK and enough tools for emergencies. Surefire L1 for general use and Surefire L4 for emergency ultra bright floodlight. Leatherman Squirt on home key ring.

- black LM Wave: I'm not a "workin' man" (plumber, electrician, so on) but find it mighty handy to have on my belt just for unexpected tasks. Keeps me from going on a search for the proper tool. Used it today to take the front off a dishwasher to inspect for a leak. When I tire of the bulk, I go back to a 4-layer SAK on my belt. Then later its back to the Wave. You know the story.

- folding knife (varies - Leek, Strider, Spydie, etc.): quick deployment for general usage; last ditch "get-off-me" device.

- Fenix P2D with rechargeable battery (in small belt holster): above all, I'm a flashlight nut. The P2D is small, very bright, and has a clicky switch. The open top holster allows for instant deployment. A light is the one last thing I EDC that I would want to forget.

- Blackberry Pearl cellphone with internet and email: constant access to and from my employer (appellate court) and Mrs. Powernoodle; the young Powernoodles can reach me anytime anywhere. Small enough to ride in my L-F pants pocket. I went way too long without internet and email in my pocket.

- pistol: Kahr PM9 in R-F pocket, or larger gun IWB as clothing allows. Rather have it and not need it than the converse.

- Arc AAA flashlight and Atwood mini-keyton (prybar, screwdriver) on keychain. The Arc is a backup, and the Atwood lets me pry things without using (and snapping) a blade.

- thin credit card case as wallet, because I don't like sitting on a fat wallet; cash carried separately.

- Seiko Black Monster on wrist: you know why.

-sak cybertool 34. mainly because of the multi-bit screw driver, I've used it I don't know how many times. the other tools have come in handy at different times too.

-led on my keychain. in a pinch it makes a decent flash light.

-walkman 300 cell phone. flip design makes it small and carriable in a pocket. has a camera and video I use from time to time, and that model I can hook directly to my computer to move files back and forth. and has really fast internet so I can check out my facebook messages where ever I am. also has a built in mp3 player so I can download my itunes to it. very cool phone.

-wallet. this is self explanitory.

-fossil watch. also self explanitory.

and right now I'm searching for a small fixed blade I can pocket carry and a quick draw sheath for my sak to add to my edc.

The light and SAK Classic add very little bulk but are very useful. The SAK gets used for the tweezers, toothpick and scissors a lot.

The SAK Farmer is a great all around knife. The saw works well when outdoors and the knife cuts into wood well for carving. The additional tools find their uses. I carry this for my larger knife because it works well for food and that's what I need a longer blade for 95% of the time I need something bigger than a SAK Classic blade. The thin blade (Reprofiled) and high corrosion resistance go together well with food prep chores. Sometimes I'll carry a Vic Nylon Solo instead because it offers slightly more blade, more comfortable handles and is lighter.

The Buck Hartsook replaced my Byrd Cara Cara as my main EDC knife. Most my knife uses outside of food are tasks a blade this short can handle. Opening packages and mail, cutting rope and threads, slicing shrink wrap and thicker plastics, making some shavings for a fire or doing a little shaping to make tools etc. The Byrd is a great knife and I still carry it, but the Hartsook is small enough to slip in my wallet or carry in the right front pocket and not even feel it's there (Literally). I find the grip surprisingly comfortable after getting used to it and once the blade is re-ground flat to the stone the cutting ability really shines. The S30V blade holds an edge well for me and I haven't had any corrosion problems. After going flat to the stone it's missing a lot of coating and it's always on me when I skate so it gets soaked in sweat for half a day before getting rinsed off. Only had a spot of rust once and it wiped off with my T shirt. I like it being a fixed blade because it's stronger and lower maintenance. This knife opened my eyes to the EDC potential of FB.

I like this combo because I can fit it all in my back pocket without feeling bulky, and it does what I need.
