Grip... the day I choose nail nicks over other opening mechanisms is the day I'll be either surrounded by bodyguards or the day I care more about how much fiber I'm getting than how much carbon fiber I'm getting.
Zero
p.s. Quite honestly, it was the painful opening mechanism of SAKs, Leathermans (non-wave), etc. that actually moved me to get into knives.
Mini Grip for overall convenience. I'd get the one with the thumbs stud, plain edge, and blue handles. Benchmade needs to make one with a orange G10 and a wharncliffe blade.
Whoa! Over a hundred posts! Whuppie!
Also look at options from Kershaw (Leek, Vapor, Needs Work) Buck (many many models) Spyderco (I don't care for them, they are good knives, Native, Delica, Tenacious come to mind) Gerber (many many models) Byrd (Meadowlark, Flight) SOG, and many more
I own both and I have EDC'd the Mini-Grip for the past two years. Best knife I've ever carried. It has performed all tasks that I have asked of it, very well.
Fällkniven is a fine knife but not comp with the BM.
Why?
Not single handed opener,no clip and likely more expensive(this depends)
Get a Grip: The Mini Grip has faultless ergonomics, sharpens up well, opens so smoothly and if you buy a yellow one,you can't lose it anywhere. Get one to EDC and one to keep.Too bad they don't do them in costly wood or bone as well!
Of the two, the grip. Thumbstud is better than nail nick, axis is better than lock back, and having something to keep you from sliding up on the blade is better than not having one...
Although I have a Skirmish in my pocket right now...
