Lets see, How did I come to love khukries..?

Almost exactly 20 years ago I bought an indian kukri from a well-known catalog based in Georgia. I still have it. It's a decent chopper but the quality and cleaving ability doesnt come close to matching an H.I. khuk. Years later I bought another one from the same catalog but not long after I shattered the handle.

Not long after this I was looking for something better and found H.I. only days after Uncle Bill passed to the next world.

I bought a 20" Ang Khola by Kumar and a wee lil Kagas Katne for my wife.

After using the AK heavily, brutally, for a couple years I was back for a 25" Sirupati, then I soon snagged a DoTD 21" horn-handled Chitlangi...

... and now I can never leave...

When I'm not carrying a H.I. khukuri in the woods, I'm carrying an ATC Rogers' Rangers spike tomahawk with either an old beat-up camillus 'kabar' clone or a BK&T Hog Hunter Bowie or #7 Combat/Utility.

Or other...

Depends. I have literally hundreds of blades to choose from.:D

I gave my son and daughter my old Ka Bars I had in the service. I bought a couple more on e bay and gave them to my grandson and old friends. I had to buy couple more Ka Bar, and Camillus Mk 2's. I love those 12" knives as much as I love my khuk's. :-)

I've had an interest in unusual gear & doing things different since I was a kid. Hunted with a recurve bow, made & used slings, atlatls, bolas, blowguns, boomerangs. Bird hunt with a muzzleloader, flyfish for smallmouth bass, my motorcycle has a sidecar.
Like most, I aquired a KLO from somewhere, recognized the engineering but quality was barely mediocre . Later picked up a BK&T, liked it, used it a lot but something wasn't there. Found HI, then this site, was found by an AK & the story continues.

My older brother Randy was a weapons freak, and he bought a cheap, dull kuk from some catalog.

Years later, I bought a Cold Steal KLO. I found BladeForums through a firearms trainer in 1998. One day I wandered into the Cantina.

I just haven't found my way out yet...but I ain't worried. ;)

Peace,

John
Georgia, baby!!!!!!!!!!

Walked into a pawn shop when I was 15, saw a huge kukri and had to have it of course it was a cheap tourist item but it was love at first sight, cost me a whole $15 bucks quite a bit for a first purchase back in 76. still have it would never get rid of it...

Similar Story for me. Bought one from them, abused the heck outta it and it still is going strong. Liked it so much I bought me and my Daughter one of thier smaller ones for when the other one was a bit too big.

Couple of online forums later....... and A graduation present later from HI....A BAS and A M-43 and one killer case of HIKV.....went out and picked up a museum model.....

haven't had much chance to use mine. but that is going to change here in the next couple of weeks. The property I am trying to purchase apprantly is a very overgrown acre and a half..

Oh yeah I ordered another one from the previous company around the time that my presents were ordered. Was told it was on backorder. I replied to them to delay shipment until the end of this month as we were goig to be relocating to another town. Just found out it has been shipped to the old address. REAL glad I'm going to be in that town this weekend.
