Yeah...I would'nt mind a Basic 7...the Basic 5 looks like the DMDC sized grips and those are too small for me. My Basic 9 is a good fit as is my DFLE...hard use knives work really well with Res C...very comfortable...I just got in my S5LE and once I remove the spine ramp it will be very comfortable for Deer work...that's where the Res C shines...great grip when using sterile gloves and doing messy jobs. If they had done a bigger grip on the Basic 5 I would have loved it...
Yes I remember I was very close to buying your set when you let them go...if I had'nt had a Basic 9 already I would have...they were a great price...but the grips are different in size...the old DMCG's used the Basic 5 grips left over and I got a DMDC and found the grip too tight...not sure if the old grips are differently sized to the new SYKCO grips but I believe they are the same....maybe others who have the knives can confirm for sure...
Interesting. Maybe why I didn't like the SYCO grips on the DMDC. Love the grip on my B9 and B7 tho. (Can you believe I sold the set. . . then rebought 2 out of 4??? Arrgghhh!!!)
Drew initially mentioned to me the grip size difference when I was at Knob Creek and mentioned I was looking for a Basic 9. There is a photo comparing the Basic 5 with the S5LE in an old thread a few pages back....the S5LE looks to have a bigger grip and this just fits me....whereas the Basic 9 grip is generous...I hope there is a difference...I just passed on a Basic 5 because of my concerns on this...if there is'nt then it will be my turn to say Arghh!! At least you got the best ones from the set back IMO ...and they are users...pristine ones are now scarce and would be a hard decision to "beat on"....
