Lets see some double bits!

I have a True Temper broad hatchet with a 2-ribbed eye.

That's interesting. I still can't find a mark an mine.
I should have said the ribs are rare in my limited experience, but nobody's jumped on me so I guess they are fairly rare.

What the hell are you talking about??!! Just kidding. I don't think they are all that rare. I've had several with ribs. I think every ribbed one I've had has been unmarked. Here's some other brief discussions on the rib subject:

thanks for the pics...
i'll get pics up soon;)

How's this for a double bit!? This photo was sent to us from sculptor John Meola. Here's how he describes it:

"The weight of it is something over 7 1/2 lbs.: it has a deftly balanced feel, somewhere between a boat anchor and a Mont Blanc pen."

Here are a couple of pictures of a repaired double bit, the closeup is where the repair chipped off and the original blade is still clearly visible. Metal used for repair makes an interesting contrast with the original steel. Axe was very rusty when I got it, $2, vinegar, pretty old repair I think just based on the rust. Is there a limit on picture size that I should be following? just links for now, sorry.
