Lets see some Hinderer action

Thanks guys! Im really happy with it. well...minus the Gen6 thing. (my first Gen6)
I think Hinderer ruined a good thing going to bearings on this particular knife.
I battled for hours trying to rid this thing of slop and play after switching out the bearings for the provided pb washers. I finally found relief going with an over-sized PB washer! The over sized washers cover the metal spacers and stabilize the blade. Now she feels like a Gen5! Much better.

To each his own, I actually only like the bearings.

Very nice mod job, it looks great. Do those three dots on the blade serve a purpose?

I was practicing drilling detent holes. ........just kidding
I have no idea what the holes are for, I was going to ask as well but I just keep forgetting too.
Anyone know?

Funny. I thought I was the only one doing that - on the show side that is :) There is a guy on ebay who sells the perfect washers for that.

I just bought my first one, a Gen6 3.5 XM-18 Spanto from BladeForums dealer USA Made Blade @whitty , they posted it up last night while I was looking at their XM-18’s for sale, I think I bought it a few minutes after it went live on their site, I fell hard for how they put this one together, I love it’s contrasting colors; a black G10 XM-18 with copper hardware was the knife that drew me towards Hinderer, I couldn’t resist this G10 red, battle bronze and bronzed out combo :p

Nice, I feel like a walnut wood scale, light micarta or tan G10 would do that knife some justice. Actually maroon micarta would be my call.

Oooo, maroon micarta, I like that idea, a textured wood scale would be cool too

USA made blade and DLT trading have micarta scales on their site for purchase. I think there are other sites too but that's usually where I start. Good luck and nice knife!

I bought a bag of different thicknesses years ago from a knife supply store.

What has always worked for me for getting supper smooth washer action...(take it with a grain of salt)

1. Washers usually all have a stamped "die cut" sharp side to them from manufacturing. Face the sharp side towards the scales and rounded smoother side towards the blade.

2. Cup your washers! Give your washers the slightest "bowl" shape by placing them over a smaller hole and push. A small socket set works good, I have a few drilled holes in my workbench that seem to do the trick sometimes as well. Place the washer (sharp side up) over the smaller sized socket opening and press the washer in with the meat of your finger or use the back of a pencile eraser/sharpie marker. You're just giving the washer shape, dont press the washer all the into the socket! Just bow it, bend it,.. just enough for shape..
--results will be almost invisible to the naked eye.

Install your new slightly "cuped" washers with the "bowl bottom" facing the knife blade. Ive used the bottom of a concaved pill bottle for CRK washers with good results.

3. For Teflon washers, find an even bigger hole like a trash can and throw them into it.

That is a beautiful XM-18. Kudos to USAMadeBlade:thumbsup: I am tempted even though I already have several XM-18s.

I have both: I carry the sheepsfoot most work days because of the stone wash but the DLC is still great, I guess I'm just afraid it won't hold up as well.

I am waiting for another skinny blade style to be released too, I'm hoping for a battle black spear point skinny or Bowie!

Ooh, a skinny Bowie would be very interesting. Heck, a fatty Bowie for that matter would definitely get my attention as well :)

Absolutely stunning!

I’m trying so very hard not to buy the compact dauntless. So hard I fact that I just transferred all the money from my “discretionary spending” account into my wife and I’s joint account because I knew I couldn’t get to it until after the weekend and I NEED a cooling off period!
