I haven't had a chance until now to take a family photo of the old-ish multi-tools I have. Most have sat unused in emergency kits/ go bags, or with minimal use around the hut over the years. Exception being the black Leatherman PST, was a companion item to the SAK Camper I carried in my flight suit. That PST was bought a few years after the Camper, sometime late '80s ('89?).

What is the deal with the small loop?

I added it because it allows the classic to rotate and move much more freely and that it rests against the keys better and is less clunkyin general. Reason for the ring being small is just that it wouldn’t look so goofy and long than with two large rings.
