That's the inner tube of bicycle tire, cut-off and just put into the belt, isn't it? I remember seeing that here or somewhere before. Very economical and easily replaceable, wouldn't you agree? :thumbup:

As the other posters wrote, it is a section of bicycle inner tube. I get inner tubes for free from bicycle shops which throw out old inner tubes all the time. I have a couple of different size inner tubes and used one which fit the knife tightly without being too tight.

I posted an article about it on Bladeforums.com some time ago, but cannot access the search function to provide you with a link.
