I hade once a Barlow made by Carl Schlieper (the bottom one).

I was never sure about, if this is a Barlow anyhow. Because the bolsters seem not be strong enough and it was a single bladed knife.

Kind regards

JAB, your Russell is simply beautiful - what a good looking knife! and sitflyer, the Barlow with a Sheepsfoot as the main is something I havent seen a lot of, but I'm likin' it!!
Frank, just what is that lovely Barlow there?....who made that one?

Utica. Current production with 1095 blades.

Andi-I have the same Eye brand knife in stag -It was touted as a barlow but it just doesn't say barlow to me.
great little knife never the less.

I like this one a lot. Böker do turn out a decent Barlow.
Interesting to see this with a Lambsfoot blade, don't think I've seen a Barlow like that before.

Thanks, Will

Thanx Will, this one came from an estate sale. I don't know how old. Main blade nice and thin, and carbon. Very sharp!
I've seen like models only a few times floating on the Bay. Model #494.

Here is my Ulster that I like to carry. I dropped it the other day and it hit the cement , but only dinged the Bolster and a very minor chip in the bone. I was sick for hours, but they deserve to be carried
I was very fortunate in was not worse.

This is a pre drop pic

Nice pic Gevonovich and sorry to hear you roughed her up a bit; but like you said they deserve to be carried

Does anyone else find it interetsting that so many barlows are labeled "Barlow" somewhere on the knife? You don't really see the same thing with any other traditional pattern as far as I know.

Nathan

Thanks Nathan. I wondered that same thing as well, so maybe someone can give us some more insight.

Interesting point. I suspect that having that huge bolster, it just begs out for having something stamped on it! Even GEC stamped some of theirs with UNX*LD and the Forum 09 knife looks particularly good with its stampings, regret not being able to get that one.

Fantastic picture! Very creative: Study in Red Amongst Oak-Leaves.

I see a Northfield lurking there.........

Thanks Will, it's my "last season's memories" pic.
I'm sure the shell helped to bag a squirrel, just not sure when.

Great picture as I say Johnny. Suspect that squirrel was one of your American Greys and not our European Reds:D
The Red is a smaller species with ear tufts.

Will, I know what your talking about.
Those Red squirrels are the most annoying things in the woods. Depending upon my chances of bagging an actual meal, I will drop the hammer on those little tree mice, just to clear them out. They have really boomed on our farm in the last couple of years, like ticks. We have quite a few grays running around, but we a few fox squirrels in here every now and then. The Fox squirrel is a trophy and the grays are kind of so so for me.

was my grandads, 1940's or thereabouts Utica Barlow, bone handle, long pulls, steel liners also one of my favorite tang stamps, oldschool archtop neat
well loved but still snappy and sharpens up like a razor, carry it every once in a while

thanks doug, i believe this old utica has my favorite color of bone handles, they look like pieces of caramel...
nothing special but even with the mismatched scales and the big chip they have aged wonderfully
it was an absolute mess when i got it a few years back... all good now
thanks
