Let's see those Cheapies

Picked these up at the flea market a week ago, got both for $17.00. It was a good day.

That is just begging for a rescale project. Would be a real good one to start off with, black or green micarta would work well.

This one wasn't as cheap in price as it should have been, something like £15/$25 as far as I can remember.

Picked up this Gerber Stockman on sale for 20 bucks or so, nicely made and sharp blades, carry it a lot.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought of the old industrial days of mass production of inexpensive knives. Here's an Imperial wrapped handle, a Syracuse Knife Co stamped bolster/liner knife and a Camco, one of Camillus' cheap line of knives for giveaways.

I quite like that one in the middle. Where might I find that, please?

Thankyakindly. :)

I've got a GEC Cap Lifter. But I really like the handles on the one in that photo. :D

It's really a cheapie though. The stamped liner/bolsters have little slits in them where you can see the pins. I'll try to get some close up shots of it posted up.

Well, there is this Colt CT424 that I got new for $11.30 shipped. I liked it enough I got a second for me, but had to order a third because a friend of mine wanted one so I sold him the one I had coming in and ordered the third one.

Btw it did the shaving and notching of the stick area from tip to hilt then sliced the orange and tomato.

Colt Trapper in carbon steel with titanium coating and G10 scales. I think I picked it up for around $15. Takes and keeps a nice edge, but like most full size trappers, as much as I love them, it doesn't ride as well in the pocket and it's a bit heavy.

Actually I have a lot more inexpensive knives either just found for best price new, or caught a great deal on them. This last one fits both categories. Like the others I found it sailing the bay. It was in the last minutes before closing with no bid and an opening bid of $0.99. I bid and with shipping and everything I think it came out to $3.74 total to my door. Okay, to my mailbox. I had to walk to the mailbox and carry it to my door myself.

Some quick licks on a dual sided Smith's diamond paddle and some stropping on some bare leather and it's been one heck of a cutting machine. Wood, cordage, pretty much anything I want to cut it cuts it very well and does reasonable holding an edge at such things. I have a KME system with Gold diamond stones, Chosera waterstones, and several strops to fit loaded with CBN emulsions all the way out to 0.1 micron. I also have two bench waterstones and several bench strops and a few other ways of sharpening a knife. Quite frankly, this under $4 knife cuts so darn well for the things I want it to cut that I'm afraid to put it on the fancy stuff to sharpen because it's right where it needs to be the way it is. If I wasn't so attached to carrying my smooth chestnut boned Case Mini-Trapper I'd probably be packing this "cheapie" in my watch pocket instead. Though a wide knife it spreads the weight out well and being flat rides well in a pocket.

I wanted more of this same pattern, but wasn't sure what to search for. I looked through Rough Rider's offerings, but couldn't find anything like it. :(
