I love the Taper on certain models, makes them much lighter, faster and quicker in hand. I've had a few that were dang near paper thin at the end. Let's see what you got!

Only ones I have with skinny butts right now

Blueback Emerald Bushfinger is in my top 3 favorite knives of all time.

Bear Paw in OD. The name is a bit of a misnomer, I have medium hands and it fits fine. It's a beasty workhorse.

Blueback Blasted Bone Bushfinger - sweeeeet. Blueback Camp Knife.
I didn't care much for Bluebacks when they came out. I picked one up anyway and immediately changed my mind when it came in.

My current favorite, though I am going to have a difficult time between this one and the bolstered green Hunter from the exchange.

THIN!!

In general, I prefer tapered tangs because they improve the balance of most knives by making it more neutral. They also look really cool. Tapered tangs immediately convey "hand made" to me.

Here are a few with tapered tangs. I have others, but these are the photos I already have.

I know that you recognize one of these.

I hope someday to be able to contribute here! I've yet to own one with a TT, but I'd love for my first to be a Camp Nessie with a colorful Shadetree Burlap and a TT . . . [ Insert future picture here!!! ]

Wonderful examples!
Love that shadetree

Thanks for starting this thread Skystorm. You have a number of real gems in your collection, including the new Hunter on the way.

Thanks for your addition Phillip. You too have done very well assembling an enviable collection.

Wow there are some thin ones in here. I don't have very many TTs and non that come close to some of these. Here are the 3 that I have at the moment (one other is out but should be home soon):

Runt, Woodchuck, Camp Nessie:

I think I need to send my knives to Mist for photo shoots from now on. :D

I agree. Both Brian and Nathan set the bar very high with their photography skills. They always capture angles, lighting, and backgrounds that really make the knives stand out. Well done guys!

My photo skills consist of

Step 1. Turn button to on. Realize button was already on.
Step 2. Choice words, grab spare battery.
Step 3. Throw stuff haphazardly on ground, hold button til magic Nikon machine makes click noise.
Step 4. Forget to turn button off. Charge extra battery for next time.

Ya know, with the blade to handle ratio, I am thinking that the Runt would definitely be one I'd want in tapered tang. That one is a beauty.

Lol, one of the things I love about this group. When I am in bad need of a smile or a giggle, I can usually find one here :)

I've got some real nice ones in TT along with probably the thinnest TT you'll ever see on a FB (Hiking Buddy that i swear is 3/32 or thinner), I'll posts pics sometime this weekend: you'll see fancy woods, micarta, double bolsters... stay tuned.
