Ka-Bar have been turning some great value for money blades for many years now but don't get too much attention on this forum so I thought we should start a Ka-Bar thread !

I'll start with this pic I took of mine today....

I've got the old USMC style, but I don't prefer it for the woods.

Very old pic:

The heavy bowie rocks hard in the woods.

Hello all, first post in WS&S. I lurk most of the time since I'm learning far more that way.

Anyway here are my Ka-Bars. The D2 Impact is the newest one I have. The small blade is probably older than I am, got that one from an uncle. The USMC blade and I share some great memories but it is now enjoying a well earned retirement.

I just sold my Warhog and Warthog folder last week. Still have these three though.

I have a black Partly serrated USMC Kabar in Kydex, the Long Heavy Bowie and a Tan and black Mule folder, also partly serrated. The Heavy bowie is pulling kitchen duty today. It's already cut up a few onions and potatoes for my Dutch Oven dinner. No pics right now, to busy cooking and chatting. ;)

I love the character these knives have to them. There's nothing like a well-used knife.

Unfortunately, I haven't used my kabar enough to be worthy of pics...yet.

I have two, but my modified is by far my favorite. The other is the black one that is just like the USMC but with a rubberized handle.

Modification:
Removed rear of handguard and filed down and rounded off
Added thumb grooves
Re-coated blade

By the way, I did all this to my Kabar tonight. It was a fun little project and turned out great.
Enjoy. Next I'll have to make a new sheath for it.

What did you re-coat the blade with?

Rattle can picasso my friend. I found some pretty hardcore flat green stuff the dries hard as hell. It's basically a high heat coating that you're supposed to use for wheels, exhaust pipes, motor blocks, brake drums, etc. It's not TiNi or anything, but then how long does that crap hold up under regular use... about as long as the hard rattle bomb stuff. ;)

hmm sounds interesting... anybody else have comments on this as a knife coating?
