If that date letter is 'f' then it would have been assayed in 1898. 1903 is 'l' bit older then!

@Jiki I'm referring to JoKr's fruit knife which has English hallmarks on the blade, the crown denotes Sheffield assay office and I'm suggesting it's a little older than he thinks.

oh, what you think how old my fruit knife is @Will Power ?
 
I think the table suggests 1898, but take a look at the link and you can see exactly what date letter is what, shape of the date stamp can make a difference too e.g. octagonal v square, oval etc.
