I have just received a coote grinder and was wondering what mods and addons you did to yours. I was thinking that I would like to tighten the belt some how as it seems a little loose for convex grinding. Thanks for the tips.

I have the small wheel attach coming in from Norm. I will post pics of it once I get it set-up. Thinking about the small tool rest for the next add-on with the disc attach as well. Might as well trick it out ya know:D

Congrats on your Coote! Great machine:thumbup:

I'm definitely interested in seeing some pics of that small wheel, Chris. Been thinking about one myself.

I hope to have them up over the weekend if it gets here this week. I am so looking forward to it. This will open up several more avenues and allowing me to experiment more freely.

I will get them up ASAP buddy.

I say go for it regardless. It will come in handy in so many ways!

The small wheel attachment helps a lot with doing handles. I took the rests off from the platen and the wheel. I only used the only on the platen for profiling but prefer both off when grinding so I just did away with both. I use the disc attachment on everything though.

I tried to mod. mine to turn it into a 3-wheel machine with a small wheel unit
but my design was complicated by the fact that the lower beam is not milled through on the inside channel, so the overall length of the machine is not adjustable to any useful degree. My idea would have worked with some tweaking but is a PITA to switch over and was not worth the effort.
I have considered getting the small wheel attatchment for mine, but the idea of grinding on the tension/tracking wheel just dosen't seem right to me for some reason. After giving it a lot of thought I ordered one of the EERF kits (have a few spare motors languishing, might as well put one to work) and am going to have a machine that is mainly dedicated to small radius grinding. I wish the EERF was availible when I bought my Coote, it basically gives you a KMG style machine with a Coote price tag, although it takes more work to put together.
