Let's see your Elephant Toenails!

I have one, but don't carry it very often. Not sure why not; I've never really even given it a chance to show me what it has. This one is sold as a sunfish. I'm still not clear on the difference, if any, between sunfish and elephant's toenail.

Thanks Sarah for that great information. Part of me wants one "just because" and the other part of me says "Wow, it's massive".

I've been thinking about having one custom made for a while now, but I'm not sure which maker would be willing to do it and I really don't know what I would do with it once I got it.

Don Hanson III, with Sunfish Forge. I love his custom take on the Sunfish

By far the worst nailbreaker of any knife I own. Even the easy open isn't all that easy!

One of the originals est ` 1900~1905 One of the more popular functions of this knife was to be used in the mercantile stores to cut heavy rope. It would be laid on the rope an wacked across the spine.

These look like fun, but what are they for?
They're supposed to have been popular among framing carpenters and trolley-car electricians. Seriously.
Especially popular in the upper midwest among Scandinavian immigrants, if I rightly remember my old Levine.

Tiny Dog - that is a remarkable Platt's.

Thank You Smithhammer! It is my Grail of all knives I own new and older.... Every time I look at the pictures of the platts operation I see this knife there:pride: TD
