Let's see your hard use folders and fixed blades

ZT MUDD -

How have you found the lock holding on the mudd? I know dust and dirt can't get in there but it seems to be in the way for me and I have not bought one for fear of accidental release.

Here's my EDC, the 552 Ritter Grip. I've had it for a few weeks and have been putting it through it's paces. I lightly batonned with it as well as used the spine for my ferro rod and just cutting stuff. It has scratches from being sharpened, but the stonewash finish (my favorite) barely lets that show.

This is my Gerber Big Rock, it's a great fixed blade and for me it's the perfect size for camp use and EDC if fixed blades are allowed to be carried in your area (not in the city for me).

And of course, my Emerson Commander that I've had for a few years now. It's done everything from batonning, chopping, being re-beveled, and everything else known to man that a knife can do :D

some of you guys need to go cut something :D

Yeah, I'll have to get out camping with a few of my knives - they are looking embarrassingly pristine. I'll take some photos of my Kukri once it has done some chopping & splitting.

I have never heard of anyone discussing a "patina" on a coated blade, but I gotta say, those black coated blades that are worn (from use) to a patina-ed gray with silver edges look awesome!

Sure I like the looks of a pristine knife in the case at the store, but ANYONE can simply buy one of those...the ones that have a customized finish (from hard use) are special and unique!

My 12 year old puukko. Still my primary fixed blade.[/QUOTE]

That's kinda ugly - which is kinda beautiful to see. There is something special about a knife that doesn't look like an ornament that should be in a glass case, but looks more like a tool for cutting stuff! You shouldn't abuse it, but definitely you should USE it!

The lock is almost like it was when I bought it, nice, easy opening, solid lock up. It has developed the tiniest amount of play vertically, but you have to really put pressure on the blade to notice it.

I haven't ever had it come disengaged during use.

It's a great, hardworking knife.

That knife looks like one of my Moras did after I used it to cut asphalt shingles! Either that or you've been dissecting zombies. :)

It's mainly tape, cardboard, the occasional staple... and zombies:thumbup:

This two pound MMHW bowie is pretty heavy duty.
