Lets see your homemade/aftermarket grips.

Here's my BK2 I posted a while back. It has cocobolo, gray spacer material, and black paper micarta with stainless pins and lanyard tube.

Next on my list is to sharpen a BK9 "blank" from Camillus and put handles on it. I figure that it must be heat treated already because it's ground and coated, just not sharpened. There's no way the coating could stand up to a heat treat, so it must be hardened already.

those are incredible handles, do they hold up good while chopping or batoning?

You are kidding right. Use it? When you put handles that purty on anything, it turns into a cheese knife. That's so nice looking, I'd keep it out of direct light as well. Wow.
