Lets see your lighters

How does the IMCO compare to the Zippo? Is it as robust? Does it prevent fuel evaporation? Are they as pocketable?

Being made of what feels like aluminum it is much lighter than, and hence lacks the solid feel of, a Zippo. But it carried very well and I used it pretty hard for a while.

I never noticed it being better or worse than a Zippo regarding fuel retention, but I must say that, when I smoked (I quit over a year ago now), I smoked a lot, and always had a problem with keeping any liquid fueled lighter full.

Overall, it is a neat little lighter which has been in production for 90 years now, for that reason alone, it is a worthy addition to any lighter collection.

Hey Solid, I had a buddy who's dad carried a zippo just like your fist one through three tours of Viet Nam. I tried like hell to talk him out of it when I was a kid but he wouldn't part with it or any of his field manuals either. I've never forgotten that zippo. I suspect it saw some serious action back in the day.

Very interesting. I just went to their website, they have some good looking lighters.

How's the quality?

Really nice. I haven't tried lighting it myself though. For me its more of a collectors lighter. It was my friends and he said it worked fine. I was quite happy when he gave it to me.

Its all metal so theres some heft too it. But the internals would kinda be like the peanut lighter I guess. Small nub of exposed wick with a small flint wheel.

It's fairly cheap too. He got it from a cigar shop and the sticker price was $18.
