my buck 309, just a great little knife, i edc'd it before i got my current job, but i wanted something with a little more handle for warehouse work, but i secretly thinking that I dont give it enough credit, i've taken it to work for a couple days and it did just fine. Just a great little knife. I was having difficulty getting it as sharp as I liked, but i think i am getting the hang of sharpening this guy freehand on a stone and i am much happier now

Also my little Winchester pen knife. It was a christmas present from my mother-in-law during my first christmas with the wife's family. It was my first traditional as an adult (besides SAKs) and i didnt treat it right, and i was using the tip to pry something and of course the tip broke off. Luckily after I got into traditionals i figured out the tip could be reground so i took it to a local gun/knife show and found a guy that should regrind the tip, he turned it into a wharncliffe and it works just fine. My only wharncliffe and my only wood handled knife (well, my first, i have an opinel i almost forgot about).

I just thought I would share a pattern that I really enjoy and would love to see yours

Ryan

Sorry for the bad pics of the old pens. Sleeveboard shadow in brown bone form Zenith, small pearl pen Germany can't read the maker and a nice carved pearl from germany by Koch and sons.
A Pal pen with a Remington master blade, a Voos jack and a hammer peanut.
A Case peanut in CV, Case mini copperheads.

ooohh! That Sleeveboard Shadow is a very fine offering Robin, thanks for showing that.

I tend to think of Pen-Knives as being single-spring, and these are a particular favourite of mine. It takes some skill to get the W&T right and the blades nestling with only one spring. Alas no photos as I have no camera... but some of my single-springs: GEC Conductor, the modern Pen Knife, White Owl, 61 Half Congress, Böker Pen, CASE Pen (why does it only come in yellow delrin??? needs some more options) is an excellent example with semi-sunk joints too, CASE TB Collab Norfolk (really good firm spring on this and no rub). You could argue, but it's not accurate, that single spring Canoes (Queen) are a kind of Pen as they have different blades, or an Improve Muskrat on single spring too.

Yes and the Buck 309 is a rewarding small knife too (two springs mind...)

So do I , and I have a couple lovelies that get the job done every time I use them.

More of a half whittler but I'll include it anyways.

Quill knife, maybe a pen jack ;-) Either Geo or William the 3rd (1830s) by Joseph Rodgers, Ivory scales. The "nail nick" in the handle is a guillotine for cutting the tip off the sharpened feather. It works by compressing the master blade after incerting the sharpened tip through the nick.

That's a nice piece! Thanks for posting it.

Mine isn't in as good of shape as Humppa's above.

mrrampro... mine is just in good condition, because I decided to use it as my dress knife. And I usually don´t wear such clothes - perhaps I should change it to my jeans section ;)
However - your´s look better than mine :)

Kind of like Trand's Schrade half whittler, but I guess the mini copperhead is a pen knife.

Since it is a small knife with two blades opening from opposite ends,

on a single spring.
