...whatever the hell you like to call it.

Let see those beautiful Krein grinds, STR work, other custom guru or your own stuff. I have a couple that I've done, but can't take photos. Sorry, all my extra dough goes towards knives:o.

Those are some great regrinds guys:thumbup:.

hardheart,

Your M2 Ritter Grip regrind was the first Krein regrind I saw and it's still one the best I've seen so far. I just love the contrast of the coating and the newly exposed steel.

Are you looking for just the pretty ones? If so I'll leave now. :foot: :o

Otherwise, here's a recent re-profile I did on a Busse Game Warden. I took the standard edge with primary and secondary bevels and tried grinding it to a zero edge, meaning a smooth transition from the full flat grind to the edge. There are still some shoulders visible, especially on the right side of the blade, and I haven't bothered cleaning up the flats of the sides yet, but she cuts like a dream.

Original profile on right, my grind on the left:

I used DMT Dia-Sharp stones, XX coarse, coarse, and fine, then Silicon Carbide (SiC) wet/dry sandpaper with water on leather-backed wood in 400, 1000, 2000 grit, and finished it on a leather strop loaded with Veritas green goop (chromium oxide).

Maybe someday I'll take the flats back to the sandpaper to clean them up, or not.

WOW Mikeymoto, I don't even want to think about how long that took you to grind down!!

Good job! I bet it does cut really good!

My Takeda 240mm Gyuto (or Chef's knife)

It cuts okay... :D

My Takeda 240mm Gyuto came from the factory at just over 4 degrees per side, and it cuts like a demon. As Roman Landes says, "Geometry cuts". To get rid of microchipping I went to a 10 per side microbevel polished to .05 microns, and let me tell you this thing can really do some impressive things on paper and hair, and bites through your fingerprints when you try the Murray Carter 3 finger test. Unfortunately I haven't had the luxury of cooking with it since the latest sharpening, though I predict plenty of guillotining fun on over ripe tomatos or whatever I have the pleasure of cutting with it next meal.

Mike

Tom,

Actually, it essentially comes that way from the factory (custom maker - really) so I can't take too much credit there.

I did end up trying to grind it down/polish it.

Mike it right... these Takedas cut like no other. In fact it's so thin that I'm afraid to use it.

Gull Wing,

What's the story on the Delica in G-11?? Who did the Scales/ grind?

I didn't even know there's a material called G-11 (how dumb of me). That flat grind looks so nice I'm tempted to cross over to the dark side and get my first Spyderco.

Heres a few:

ZDP Endura

ZDP Jess Horn

Spyderco Native

Byrd Meadowlark, at .004" edge thickness

Caly Jr. ZDP at .004"-.005"

Thanks for all of the master cutters, Tom!

Mike

Here's the little PECK I just reground. Thinned out with a larger bevel that's very slightly convexed. Bad pic, I'll have to take a better one in daylight.

Here's what I was talking about, highlighted in red:

That was just the remnants of the marker used to write the hardness on the blade. I was too lazy to wipe it off before taking the pictures.

Mike

Edit to add: My picture taking sucks, so it is just an optical illusion. The more I look at the pic the more I see what you are saying about it looking dented, but I can assure you the only dents are the 2 dimples from the Rockwell test.
