Ok woods junkies, let's see em'. Do you trick yours out, or is a sheath just a sheath to you? Did you make it or buy it? Which is your favorite and why? and of course, show those beautiful blades too:-).
Saw a great looking sheath from a Mistwalker thread, and it made me curious what other cool sheaths and contents are wondering the woods. Thanks!!!

Here is my go to setup for hitting the woods. Busse Bushwhacker Mitress with Izula 2 piggybacked. Custom drop leg sheath

"Saw a great looking sheath from a Mistwalker thread, ...."

Thanks! That was one of mine, glad his pics are back up.

One of my favorites, because I love the knife combo and the way it came out is for an ESEE-6 w/a Piggy-backed Izula I Pouch-Sheath + Dangler:

There's only "front&back" movement with the D-ring and it probably sounds off but this setup really disappears and it's easy to forget you've got it on. Here's a picture of it belt-mounted:

Just made a similar setup for a BK7/BK14 Combo, there's plenty of room between the two and scales could easily be added to the BK14:

Fletcher Knives "Bush Operator" w/red eyelets and spacers/bushings... matched the black w/red liners on the knife:

That about does it..... but you did say "sheaths":D

The sad thing is that I don't even have a sheath per se..... I do have a machete sheath that fit's multiple machetes and the BK9/Junglas. But I don't have anything near as cool as the ones pictured..... gotta fix that.

Hope this helps,

Eli

Here's one I made for my DIY bushcrafter from Bill Akers.(my handle on the knife & rod)

This one I made for my drop point hunter from Daniel Combs.(DanCo)

This is a ghetto dangler I put on the sheath that came with my B11.
It's got a Swamp Warden piggy backed with a little pouch held on with some inner tube.

I have a lot of fun making kydex sheaths for my knives. I don't have any special equipment and they're not pretty (I mainly do everything by hand), but they get the job done. Here is the latest I made for my Backwoods Survival Kephart (maker Bill Akers) along with a couple others:

Cheapie sheath for my SOG Revolver. The Revolver fit better in the older kydex Seal Pup sheath so I swapped them.

Hi! This thread came just in time as I wanted to show off a new sheath I've made for SYKCO 511.:) I think it turned out quite well, as it's my very first attemp at leather craft and no specialized tools were used...

For urban carry I go back and forth on sheath thoughts, I like a small kit but I like discrete carry small knives too. For the woods I tend to like actual knife kits. I have made a few of my own kits in the past, but recently I saw a design I liked a lot and ordered a few of them from Godspeed Tactical

Mine; ESEE-4 with custom scales from the-knife-connection.

Wife's; ESEE-Izula with custom scales from the-knife-connection.

Daughter's; Izula-II...still waiting on the custom scales to be available.

So far I've only gotten my kit set up – with some likely adjustments – but I just ordered some things for all three of them and I have a couple more sheaths planned.

I've only been at it about a year. I don't make works of art , but try to make mine heavy-duty and built to last.

All of these sheaths have hot beeswax coating soaked in , so they are very water resistant.
I am not fond of dying my leather and want a more natural look to them. They look even better when they get beat up a bit !! No shelf queens here.

Here's a sheath that I whipped up for an old knife I found in my parent's basement - no idea of the maker. A little too much sun shining -sorry. :(

Man that Survival Kephart is bad ass Mark. Can't wait to get the Multi Tasker & check out that convicious edge for myself.
Nice sheaths too, good ol' kydex,it ain't real pretty, but it's easy to work & less bulky than leather.
Having said that I do want to make some leather sheaths, because you can get more artistic with them, but don't look forward to all the stitching.

My go to survival blade is the Fallkniven A1 (if its good enough for the Swedish Army its good enough for me). I opted for the zytel sheath so I could modify it with a Maxpedition pistol magazine pouch. The velcro loops on the pouch are the perfect size to wrap around the Fallkniven's sheath but I secured it even more with some additional adhesive velcro and a few zip-ties as well. The whole rig is pretty low pro and I'm very happy with it.

I've always been a firm believer in having a multi-tool with you and this setup ensures that I will always have my Victorinox Swisstool as well as a firesteel and a Photon microlight with my knife.

Nice sheath,I hope my first attempt
looks that good.
Is the handle on the knife aluminum?

I'd like to say that Talfuchre's work was one of my major inspirations getting into leatherwork making my own sheaths when I did my research on it. Your work is impeccable.

Pete :)

Thanks. I have made other leather goods - holsters, etc --- but that was my first fixed-blade sheath ... I basically copied the construction style off of my KABAR sheath ;)

I think it is aluminum, the handle feels pretty light. The heft is forward of the hilt. The blade is some sort of carbon steel.
