  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Lets see your shelters/bush getaways.

I'm loving all the shelters shown here. Those debris shelters look store bought.Just like you see them on TV or in a book(or magazine:p).Great job all.
Ted,How long did they take to build?

Man, you guys have built some shelters that make mine look like the backwoods ghetto! Nice work!

It's a little hard to gauge as they were done a little here a little there. Logs harvested in the spring and by summer they were both done.
be safe... Ted

Yeah I used the sog hawk to hack a basic flat side from the log.The axe is a Snow and Nealley Hudson bay axe.I used it to cut the stakes and to pound them into the ground.

P.S. I'm 6' 2" about 260 so I needed a big coat.:p

Nice, thanks for the info. Big job for a 'hawk, but I reckon the slim profile worked pretty good for it.

I was checking out that Survival Handbook at Chapters a bit ago, but it was like $30. Looked packed full of info and nice colour illustrations, so maybe once some cashflow starts coming I'll pick it up.

I feel you on the jacket, I'm 6'3 about 250;)

I dig everyone elses shelters. The weather needs to clear up so I can hit the bush before I start working again.

I have never stayed in one place long enough to warrant that sort of energy expenditure.

Good looking camp site, and it shows a good level of skill. Thanks for sharing.

This is a great thread! Hopefully one day I'll have some property and can work on a getaway of my own. Lots of great ideas here!

I spend a lot of time in the woods, I sleep in here when it rains. It over looks a 10 acre field and the river is right behind it.

I saw 11 deer before noon last sat, this sat is gun season in Ky.

This should be a sticky, it would be great for sharing ideas on how to set up camp.
I know it has been useful for me already.
