Well, its loosely based on the original AG Russell Sting - a design from the 70-ties, so I think if there's any inspiration, it's the other way around.

The original Sting was not a folder. I'm talking about folding mechanism, particularly the pivot area and stop pin (thumbstud). See the resemblance.
