Let's see your Tom Krein Regrind Knives!

I will have to disagree with you on that you can etch deeply to get a stamp effect, here is a link to a stamp vs etching thread over in the makers forum
Have you ever tried to stamp hardened steel? It would take a lot of force and one heck of a stamp to do it. Knives that are stamped are usually done before HT and while still hot. Also most of the marks are on the grind and if you look at the close ups you can not see the tell tale signs of raised metal around the area. Take a look at Mace's etch, post #6, it is amazingly deep.
Sorry haze not you the post above that

Here's some.

Caly 3's are so thin with amazing sharpness potential already that I can't imagine how insanely sharp the regrind must be. Can you tell me what the angle of the edge was before, and now after?

Those Calys and Calypsos don't look like they were done by Tom Krein. If they weren't, how were they done?

Tom did my VG-10 Delica about two years ago. It is now so easy to sharpen.
A few strokes on the sharpmaker and it is awesome.
I would like to compare it to the new Delica FFGs.

They were all done by him, except the grey Calypso Jr. which was a hack job by me... Tom's work is infinitely better.

You really have to use them to appreciate them. It's just insane. Shoot me a pm with your address, and I'll send them to you so that you can play with them. Great stuff!

PS - I forgot to say, I've sharpened them all freehand, so I don't know what the angles are, but the Krein regrinds take about 5-10 passes on a dmt blue to completely reset the edge bevel. They take all of about 30 seconds to go from dead dull to treetop trimming sharp. No joke.

PM incoming. Wow, that's pretty cool of you! I can't wait to test it out against my Caly 3's factory edge, which I thought was more than respectable out-of-the-box, but now is hair whittling sharp after I refined it with 1 micron diamond spray. I love face-offs!

I have also been considering sending my CQC-12 Comrade to Mr Krein. I would like to have him remove the serrations and regrind the edge.

What are the downsides to having this done? I assume the Emerson warrenty will be voided and the edge will obviously be thinner. I edc the Comrade. Have any of you had issues with chipping the reprofiled edge?

He sharpened the top edge on my BM42 and torched the handles...

Always did want a Spyderco Gayle Bradley type grind on my Benchmade 760 Lum.
Anyone have a guesstimate how much this might cost me?

I was wondering the same thing. What are his prices like and does he do fixed blades? (Old school Fallkniven A1 with a thick semi-hollow grind...I'd love to have it flat ground)
