Let's see your Traditional Case knives, old to new.

Pulled out the knife drawer tonight to take some shots of my Case collection for this thread. I "try" not to have more pocket knives than will fit nicely in the drawer, but over time it just became curating which knives went in the drawer, and which ones went somewhere else :)

This one of the four sections of the drawer, and it's full of Case goodness.

Currently my Case collection consists of
  • five sowbelly stockmans
  • one single blade sowbelly
  • Tribal Lock
  • Humpback stockman
  • Punch-man
  • Mini trapper
  • Half whittler
  • Eisenhower penknife
If I was picking a favorite, it would have to be this 2003 First Production Run Sowbelly. It's different from the others as the nick for the sheepsfoot is on the other side, and the bone covers are my favorite (but didn't photograph well in the close up. They look much better in the group shot above).

But a close runner up is a new arrival. It may just knock the sowbelly from the top of the list! The damascus mini trapper. I'm really liking this one so far.

The Texas Jacks are nice. I like mine. It's the same size as my 63032 medium stockman, but it just feels a lot smaller in the pocket for some reason.

I just got this one today. 2016 Case 6347 stockman. All three blades are carbon steel; I know this because the shield says 'Carbon,' The clip blade says 'Carbon Steel,' the spey says 'CV' on the pile side and the sheepfoot says 'CV' on the pile side and 'Carbon' on the mark side. Overkill? You decide. :) I like the sawcut chestnut bone and 6347 model and carbon blades.

Three large Case lockback knives. These are all relatively new purchases and manufacture.

Left to right: Tribal Lock, Copperlock, Cheetah. I like the Copperlock, 4 1/4" closed, because of the bolster that gives me confidence that my hand might not slip onto the wharncliffe blade. , The Cheetah, 4 3/8" closed, looks cool but the guard just feels weird. The Tribal Lock, the smallest of the three at 4 1/8" closed, feels very comfortable (the other two handles feel a little thin) and the blade also has a good point for a spear.

These are blue jean back pocket knives for me; otherwise, they are in a belt sheath.

Here's a CASE Half Whittler I got hold of a couple of years ago. Pleased with the F&F but rather regret they have changed it from a single-spring model to a 2 spring one. The bone was called Burned Salmon Bone, not at all apt! It arrived a revolting strawberry pink with a lot of white froth edges...Gave it a couple of tea baths, but was still not too happy, more carroty but perhaps along Smoked Salmon lines:eek::D

Still wasn't satisfied with the colour so I opted for potassium permanganate instead, painted on and don't forget to use gloves and plenty of newspaper about..
the results were I think, excellent a good rich brown. A very neat little pattern these.

Much improved:thumbsup:
Easier on the eyes than flesh tones in my opinion :D

Is it the photo, or does the Texas Jack have a rounded point? I’ve seen that some Case knives do have rounded points, and others have, from their photos, a sharp main blade point. If certain models have round main clip blade ends, is that a function of the pattern, the year… or luck of the draw?

It does appear rounded in the pic, so I had to go look:). It's pointy though. One of my new release Barlows had a dull point, while the other three were OK, so it appears to be the luck of the draw.
