Let's see your Traditional Case knives, old to new.

Last year I bought a few of the Case Smooth Old Red Bone knives with PVD coated blades. The Mini Copperlock had some pretty bad gapping on the heel. I was originally going to send it to Case and see if they would address the issue, then changed my mind. For just over 6 months now I have been using that little knife as my main slicer for things around the apartment that might need slicing. The knife I reach for unless a better tool is needed. Intention was to use it as a test to see how the PVD would hold up on the other knives.

So, for anyone interested... No change in the gapping, whatever caused the gap has not shifted, knife is still solid. Bolsters have a lot of fine scruffs that don't show in the photo. Blade shows essentially no wear except the tang where it pivots (still some oil haze visible on the blade from the wipe-down before the photo). I have used this almost daily to cut paper, cardboard, cork, plastic, string, parachute cord, and to open mail and packages. For the things I use a pocket knife for these days, it looks like the PVD coating will wear very well. I'll see how it looks at the end of the year and update if I remember.
