Lets see your woods knives with a 7-10" cutting edge

I had mentioned the Grasso Bolo on a previous page, and as a dedicated chopper, it's still my favorite. But for a more all-around design, I'm really liking BR's "Canadian Camp Knife II:"

Here is my latest .

Oh, man I like that. For my lifestyle that would be really nice.
Here's my newest baby.
A heavy duty Kabar style knife made by David Stifle. It's a beast. It will definitely outwork me.

For normal/camp/field use, my Nexus/Molletta Spartaco has risen to the top. It's my 'Nexcaliber' and rates a 10 on the 'telegance' scale.

If I were going to do something where serious 'hard-core' use-into-abuse was possibly anticipated, I'd probably swap out the NMSFNO.

But they're both so dang good.

Nmfbm or kukri is a fine woof knife.

TG is also very good, but much easier to cut steaks with.

The Lile was the one keeper...

What it looks like today.

It is straight and true, but otherwise a bit roughly made in surface finish, which is why I had to have it Cerakoated as the original black paint was crap. It is an excellent user and will hold its edge without any chipping or micro-folds, even at extremely thin 10-12 degrees per side angles. The Lile sawback slightly out-performs the Parrish-style sawback on the RJ Martin Blackbird/Raven: Very useful for notching up to 1" deep.

The knife is a bit too light for my taste, but chops well above its apparent feather-like (for the size) 17 ounces weight.

My newest. A 7 inch version of JK Handmade Knives' Rule #9. I am in love with this blade. It fits me like a glove, the fit and finish are flawless and the large blade feels like a small knife in use. I could use this all day long and never tire of it.

Let’s revive this thread, see if anyone’s choices has changed over the years. Photobucket sucks and is holding my pictures hostage, but the two I mainly use is a Busse Basic 11, or a Bill Seigle JEST Bolo. I wanted something a little smaller that carries a little easier and have a Busse Dog Soldier 8 on the way. I think that 8” blade should pair nicely with a smaller blade.

dbltap,
I’ll post pics up this week of my Bark River Teddy 2 when it comes in. I got the newer style with the Moran handle instead of the straight pommel style. I have been streamlining my equipment and it left me with a void for the “one knife does all scenario”. I really like the look of Bowie knives but never bought a serious one, so I’m excited to get my hands on it. Seems like a good design and very robust. An 8” was as big as I was willing to go to have it be good at any role, and not be great at this but suck at that. We shall see.
