One more time ... the problem with Dark Ops knives has never been the quality of the knives themselves. For a while, the problem was, there simply were no knives. Then there were, but few of us here chose to buy them. Why?
Because the world is full of big, tough knives that can take abuse. Even the Extrema Ratio knives that D.O. ripped off to begin with. Or knives like Ontario and Bark River that don't cost nearly as much for top performance. Or knives like Chris Reeve and Strider that do cost as much and set the standard for hard use knives.
But D.O. went one step too far with their marketing. It wasn't appealing to this community, and it wasn't appropriate for the larger world, which already sees big knives as a menace. D.O.'s marketing sent all the wrong signals.
There is too much worthwhile competition to spend money on losers.
