Let's talk about Khanjarlis!!!!!!! Pic.

Here's another one Bro, Uncle Bill said we might be able to have done after the 1st of the year. 2,002 looks to be a very exciting year ainnit?:D

Yes yes yes! We definitely want more beautiful shapes and styles to add to our collections.

Oh wait... were we talking about women or weapons?

Well, either way, it doesn't matter. I need khanjarlis as much as I need redheads, so bring 'em all on! :D

my vote is still for some hanshees. :)

B.

I'm for a hanshee as well, but someone's gonna have to make a model that knows something about them, perhaps T-Bone and it's probably gonna be a while.;)

In the meantime............:p

The nice thing is that the kamis already know how to make the Khanjarlis, besides Rusty and me have been waiting on them a whole lot longer!!!!! :p :)

Ruel if , naawww I won't go there.  ;)

Yvsa - but Bura already made a hanshee-style khukuri for Berk ('the Bura boomerang'):

personally, what I'm envisoning ordering sometime is a Bura-made 18inch hanshee like Berk's 'Bura-boomerang' (maybe with even a bit more drop), with a carved horn handle and silver-mounting, as on the 'Silver Mounted, Carved handle Ang Khola'. But that's probably at least US$200....

cheers, B.

A Silver Mounted "Bura-boomerang" Oh My! Talk about an Expencive "TOY":D

Ben I'm betting there's some here that will argue that you're fulla blue mud rather than think that knife would or could be called a 'hanshee', but then I've been wrong before, no doubt will be again.;)

I'm really glad Berk got that knife. I'm by it like Bro is by the Super Salyans. To me it's an ugly stocky knife.:p  :)

Besides if you wanna use that argument the kamis made the first Khajarlis long before Bura made this knife.:D

I don't think the silver really drives up the cost that much, I think it's the carvings, but I know nothing...
Just take a look at the fancy Falcatas at what? $395.00. But the carvings on the scabbard are worth every cent!!!!!!!
But then of course there's three to four times more silver on those scabbards as well!!!!!!!!
And if the extra money is going for the silver instead of the carvings it should be the other way around. IMO.

When I get the Bowie model completly finished I may try something with the Falcata scabbard. Gotta fix the handle for sure, but I can make a new one for it if need be.
The scabbard is what deserves some serious woodchuckery!!!!!!!:)

Perhaps I am full of mud of some colour or other....'Forward-curving' then? I'm just looking for something with more curve to it than the more 'modern'-style khuks, so a 'true hanshee' like this:

would be more my ideal than the boomerang.

:) ah, but were the first Khajarlis made before the first hanshees?--that's the question ;) But I thought we were talking about what we did and didn't have models for....though I don't know whether Bura could do something more 'hanshee-ish' than the boomerang w/o an actual model or not....

You're probably right. And I do agree with your opinion. Actually, in part I was just thinking that the steel-mounting might be more durable than the silver, and silver doesn't really look that much 'nicer' than steel anyway....

Did someone say khanjar? One of the Jambiya threads, I think, so back to the top for this. Besides, khanjars usually bring out the lurkers.

See if it builds into a frenzy - though with tax time on Monday, and with the PGA's seems like most everybody's broke.

and a short read it was.

Yvsa:

I was asking Bill about Khanjarlis last week. It would be great to have one.

S.

PS. I'll take khanjarli #2, Monty. Just make the hilt a little longer than usual (for my non-Nepali-sized paws).

.... or a curvy 19th century K?
