Let's talk about pens !!

Years ago, I got a catalog from a company that supplies tool kits. You know, the briefcase-like cases with all the tools in fitted compartments that are popular with repair and field-service people. My favorite was the bomb defusing kit which came packed neatly in an impact-resistant plastic case. Somehow, that just doesn't inspire my confidence. :D

I looked at a Rotring 600 at a Paradise Pen store in Richmond, and I didn't like the fact that the cap rattled when posted. Otherwise, it was a nice pen. The saleswoman said that 'most people' lay the cap down, seperated from the pen when writing. Yea, right!!

Thats the rollerball. It's a big pen. I like the 600 that i pictured here. (Got them all except the fountain)

As for the Cap on or off, I have that 600 and keep the cap on. as with most pens it gives balance.

Actually the sales woman was correct, though that's not to say do as you like. I've been told that by several people, and also do the same. It's just too big when the cap is posted.

Hmmm.....I don't think so. I think we are over analyzing this, but when you remove the cap, do you put it down, or hold it in your other hand? She was suggesting that people lay the cap down, without holding it. :)

I've dealt with Mickey Yurco in the past and really liked his stuff.

However, have lost his web address/email. Does anyone have it?

Thanks!

For most of my capped rollerballs, I just leave the cap on the pen stand. If I was using it while standing, I'd just hold it.

I've had three of the Space pens. They were the military model, same refill as for the bullet and other models. One worked beautifully, one wrote poorly from the start, one started writing somewhat poorly after about a week. Not that great IMO. I would have returned the worst if I hadn't lost it after a few days. I've misplaced all of them actually. Now I just use a fountain pen, more my style anyway.

The best pen I have though is a gold plated Parker. I don't know the model, but the twist action is extremely precise and the refill hasn't dried up even after extended drawer time. Very smooth writing. Does not see much use though, I'm not comfortable carrying a 90 Euro pen with me, knowing how easily I tend to lose stuff.

What is a pen stand?
It's something you use to rest your pen in, on your desk when the pen is not in use. Very effective way to know where you pen, and/or the cap, is, and to protect it from rolling around and disappearing.
